This is the first time since I have started teaching 5 years ago that we didn’t plan a trip to Laughlin over spring break. We always go, every year…and every year the weather kinda sucks and we don’t have the best trip of our lives. After last years hell of a trip…I made the decision this year to NOT go to Laughlin…we’ll save “the first trip of the season” for Memorial Day weekend. We actually didn’t make ANY plans really for our spring break…and its been kinda nice. Usually we are gogogo and this spring break has been very low key!
Some of the highlights from our first week of spring break include…
A trip to Sea World with some friends!
Taryn, Addi, me, Owen, Pete the Penguin, Reese, Amy, Ruby, Kerri, Brooklyn, Erin & Riley
Such a fun day…Owen truly LOVES sea animals. Since this day Owen asks me to tell him stories about Sea World everyday…he wants me to re-cap the day…its cute. First stop was the Aratic Area…Owen LOVES the polar bears, Walrus and Penguins.
I was impressed with Owen…during the dolphin show he only covered his ears (he does that when he’s scared and has anxiety) for about 15 minutes…improvement since last time we were there last summer and he had his ears covered the WHOLE show!
Don’t know if many people know this…but its mating season for Shamu! We were at the under water observation area to see Shamu and his 3 friends. We knew that 6 little kids wouldn’t be able to handle the show so watching them interact was way cooler….until we realized they were trying to make babies! Oh dear LORD. This is a picture Amy caught with her phone….
Yes that NOT a baby coming out of Shamu!! Oh my goodness….thankfully the kids are so small they never even realized what was going on. BUT we cut our whale watching short…to give them the much needed privacy!
Feeding the Sea Lions was pretty amazing. They would bark and do little tricks to be fed. We had to make TWO trips to this area…Addi was brave enough to feed them…Owen wouldn’t touch the dead fish of course! But it was a REALLY fun day!
Also during the week we got Owen’s stitches out…they were only in for 15 days…oops little longer than the 7-10 days the ER doc told us! haha The dissolvable stitches didn’t exactly DISSOLVE! So of course another afternoon spend in Kaiser…wouldn’t be break without visiting our second home! haha
We went to the beach as well…thinking that we didn’t care about the weather…if it was cold we didn’t mind since the kids just wanted to play in the sand…but MAN…it was FREEZING! They played…we sat and bundled up! haha By the time we got home I was exhausted from being so cold for so long! haha
Little Cold Taryn? haha
Heather brought the kids over to see an empty Lifeguard Tower…the boys climbed up…an then cried! hahaI climbed up to get the little scardy cat boys…but Addi was brave…shes the lil crazy one of the kids!
Cold weather…but still fun times!
ONE of the highlights for me was to watch Yosh perform as a Jedi at our friends sons 4th birthday party! It was awesome. He got into costume and conducted a Jedi Training Camp, teaching the young Padiwons some Jedi moves. It was adorable. Not many guys would agree to do this for a friend…and even though Yosh was nervous he did great…and the kids LOVED it!
After Yosh taught the kids moves…Darth Vadar came out…and the kids all took turns killing him!
The party was so cute. Owen asked for a Star Wars Party this year…which we did NOT give him…so it was awesome that he got to attend this…and Maribeth did such an amazing job! Everything was so so cute! Every detail was thought of…
This little girl, Maggie, in the Princess Leia costume was so adorable…her Mom kept having to take her Light Saber away b/c she was hitting the little boys in the head…heehee. She was adorable!
So week one done…and actually as I’m writing this week 2 is almost done as well…I hate how break goes by so fast!! BUT only 8 more weeks until school is OUT and we leave for the Caribbean! woot woot! Some fun stuff coming up in the next few weeks though…Easter, my 30th, my WA trip to visit The Paul’s, Mothers Day, Memorial Day…before I know it it’ll be summer! Yay!
