Mothers Day.

Oh mothers day. I won’t lie. I missed my mom today…shes only in Ireland and it made me realize how sad this day has to be for those without mothers. I, at least, got to FaceTime with my mama…some don’t get that option…and I’m grateful for that yet sad for so many!!

I love Mothers Day…and can’t wait for the days when my kids are old enough to make me breakfast and paint my nails. haha Not really. I hate breakfast and don’t paint my nails.  Daddy did a great job helping the kids make my present…its cute.

I’m so proud to be the mommy to these 2 children…I’m a lucky lady.

 

Sea World is great to teachers! For the past 3-4 years they have offered teacher appreciation deals…and usually they include a free year pass for us.  Being that I’m married to a teacher as well, it works out well for our family! I know because of that documentary a lot of people hate on the place but I love it…I’ve always loved it. I remember telling my parents after our first visit there that I was going to be a dolphin trainer when I grew up! haha And that is one thing my son inherited from me…he LOVES all underwater animals.  He tells me that he wants to be a scuba-diver veterinarian when he grows up!

This years Sea World deal was a free year pass for all teachers AND they came with 3 complimentary one day passes too!  BUT you have to redeem your year pass before May 22nd.  And man has May snuck up on us.  We slacked and waited and then we realized that our only day that we had no plans was on Mothers Day. Soooo…we decided to venture down to San Diego. I was hoping that all the other moms wouldn’t want a stressful day of crowds and stayed home….and I was surprised that Sea World wasn’t packed. It was perfect.

They changed the entrance of the park…its pretty awesome now with all kinds of “Explorer Reefs”. Owen was in heaven being able to touch all those nasty fish (yeah I’m not as big of a fan of underwater animals in my older age!)

 

Have you seen that Kardashian episode where they get pedicures with “cleaner fish”…well these are them. They are little fish that “clean” your hands of dead skin!! They attack your hand and suck on them. Its disgusting! haha Owen loved it. The fish LOVED Daddy’s hand…and Ella and I opted to just watch.

Other pools had some little bamboo something sharks…yeah scary! lol

Owen was seriously in heaven!!

But overall we did some exploring, show watching and had a great time.  We didn’t stay forever…which was nice. There were no crazy tired melt-downs, no whiny about walking to long…it was JUST RIghT.  AND the minimal crowds was a total bonus too!!

We saw the Sea Lion show and it was funny because Ella wasn’t interested in sitting with her family…lol little Miss Independent.

Ella is even scared of the aquariums.  Its kinda funny.  When fish swim by the glass she freaks out! haha SOOOO different than her brother. 

We made a trip to see Shamu…and both kids though it was hilarious that they swam upside down…

 

It was a great EASY day at Sea World. I’m happy we have Sea Passes and a few more passes for Owen and some friends and family. Will give us some options this summer forsure!

It didn’t seem like a crazy day but the way Ella finally fell asleep in the car was hilarious!!! She was wore OUT!

We stopped at Red Robin (one of mommys favorites) and had a nice dinner (also melt-down free wow it WAS Mothers Day!!!).   

So another great mothers day in the books. We’ll be celebrating again soon with my MIL who wasn’t up for it last weekend with my FIL just getting out of the hospital. And then we’ll celebrate AGAIN when Bernie gets home too!! I’m not complaining…actually pretty excited.

Mothers & Muffins

Today I got my FIRST real Mother’s day celebration!!! Yeah every year I get a gift, cards, flowers, etc.  But TODAY it was different…it was special.

In Owen’s kindergarten class they had a Mothers and Muffins event.  I have never been so excited to get period coverage for my class.

He was so excited all week about having me in his class, and I was so excited too!

They sang to us…

I got it on video…its an adorable song!

Then we go to participate in the 100 mile club with our little one…THAT was fun! Watching the kids run run run and some of the moms trying to keep up! Owen told me this morning…”Mom, you jog like this (imitating me jogging)…today you have to REALLY run!!” haha  ummm…ok I’ll try my best! haha

Then back inside for muffins, juice and gifts!! Oh I die!

 

His teacher took pictures of every student with their Mom (or woman figure…some moms couldn’t make it)…and we played a fun game with M&Ms.

I loved today! Owen was so proud of the singing, gifts and just having me in his class. Anyone who came close enough he would tell that he has a baby in my belly…haha He’s such a proud big brother. I love it. 
I looked around the class and it made me happy to see all these moms come and spend time with their little ones.  Some moms came running in from work, others had babies strapped to them, but all the attention was on the kindergarteners and I loved that. Only 4 more weeks and these kids are 1st graders (HOLY SHIT!)

Hello again Saturdays!

I can’t believe we have finished our first season of little league!

It went by so fast!! But was so fun watching this group of little boys grow as players!

In the beginning of the season the games were EXTREMELY slow and lets be real…pretty boring.  At the end it was actually fun and full of real action!

Beginning of the season 90% of kids had to use the tee…end of the season 90% didn’t use the tee the whole game. Maybe 3-4 kids needed it once…maybe. 

Not only do the boys know HOW to hit the coach pitched balls but they also know WHERE to run!! haha No more running to 3rd base on accident.   I love watching our boys run as fast as they can through first and “hook” around coach. The little fundamentals they are learning are amazing!

I love that tongue out running…hoping he doesn’t bite it off one day! eck.

He’s happy to see Aunt Missy, Uncle Chris and Peyton there watching him!

The coaches worked so hard with our boys this season and it REALLY paid off.  I appreciate all the time and patience they gave to our crazy little boys!

A little tradition they do it “tunnel time”…Ella’s FAVORITE part!!  All season I wanted to get pictures but never could.  Finally I got some of Owen going through the tunnel…and you can see the smile on his face…I think its one of his favorite parts of the game too!

Our coaches would meet with the team after each game and go over the goods and the bads…I loved that. All they kept game stats and awarded the kids with the best stats the game ball. Some parents might not agree with this…but we are NOT one of those “everyone is amazing and gets a trophy” families. We teach our son that he has to work hard to get recognition. And playing, learning and having fun is more important than anything.  He gets it. And I love that he strives to do his best and hopes to get that game ball every game..and never pouted with someone else got it. He’s learning to be a real team player already…makes me proud!

Ella wants to be part of the team SO bad! Can’t wait until we can get her into little league. She’s gonna be a baller…like her mama! haha

Very proud of this team..and can’t wait to get started in the fall to continue watching them learn!

The season wouldn’t be complete without a real pizza party!!

  


The team mom’s put together a great pizza party…kids had a great time and loved all their goodies!

This stud had 20 hits and 4 outs for the season (we gotta work on his fielding skills haha).  He has talked about getting this trophy since the day we signed up. And as soon as we got home he started comparing his fall trophy to this one…and this one was “waaaay better, its bigger and shinier!” haha

  

But I have to say I’m going to appreciate this little break from sports…3 days a week of baseball was rough sometimes.  I’m excited to have our Saturdays back!! Woot woot!  Oh wait…when doesn’t swim lessons start again?
