Water from the Sky

Rain! YES it finally rained here…FINALLY!

I think this might have been the warmest winter EVER. We have had a LOT of days in the 80s, some days in the 90s and most days in the high 70s. I know the people on the East coast and Midwest getting blasted by the polar vortex are probably hating on us BUT its kinda annoying to ALWAYS be in warm weather.

The news has been warning us about “the system(s)” moving in this weekend. Some cities had TOTALLY prepared with sandbags, school closures, etc. I laughed to myself thinking it was going to be all for nothing….but I was TOTALLY wrong!!

We have rain, thunder, lightening, MORE rain….and darn it most cities in So Cal are NOT equipped for that much water. So its been crazy.

I laughed while taking these pictures of my children…TOTALLY mesmerized by the water falling from the sky!

I’m stoked Owen got to try out his new rain boots before our Ireland trip in June…we’ll see PLENTY of rain on that trip. I’m not on the hunt for some lil girl toddler boots…like size 4 (shes only a size 3 right now)

AndElla, the crazy lil beast, wanted to play in the rain SO bad. She was pissed Yosh wouldn’t let her down to crawl around in it…

She would yell and grunt for Yosh to get her close enough to touch the water…and then when the freezing cold water touched her hand (and head) it would take the breath out of her. And then she’d want to do it again. Crazy Child I tell you!

Cali Kid Problems I tell you. Never seeing rain…never getting to jump in puddles…using rain boots for playing in your dirt backyard more often then using for “rainy days”.  I know this…I’m a cali kid…and I’m ok with it!

Painting & Wine

Oh what a fun night we had!!

When all your girlfriends have multiple children, it seriously puts a hamper in your social life! haha Yes we love our children. Yes we love hanging out with our children. Yes we wouldn’t want our lives any other way. BUT gosh darn a kid-free, alcohol consuming night of laughs is something every girl needs from time to time! Pretty awesome that we got a girls night last month for Taryn’s 30th birthday and then again this month for Heather’s 30something birthday. lol

Bowling for Taryn…and Painting for Heather.

Heather’s our super crafty friend so I thought this would be a perfect night for her.
I got a recommendation to go to Timree Paint Studio in Newport Beach. A little research, little chaos and finally I booked a private party…we were allowed to bring beverages of choice, snacks/appetizers/desserts, and got 2 hours of instructed painting time.
Side Note:  I found out that The Housewives of OC came here to visit…and Heather is a huge Housewives fan so it was another selling point for Timree!! haha

And It was a lot of fun!!!

The pressure was on the second we walked in the door…which painting (I guess over the phone I picked a VERY easy one that wouldn’t take very long to complete…Timree suggested we choose something else haha oops) We were painting for our daughters…we figured they love whatever we painted regardless of how crappy it turned out!
So we picked flowers and then it started…what color strips, what shape vase, what color flowers, size of flowers, how many leaves…ohhhh I just kept drinking to help my decision making! haha

My snapchat pic to sters! lol

I think all our final products were absolutely amazing!!! Timree (yes thats her name!!!) has an awesome way of teaching and bringing the inner arteest out of everyone…even my math teaching perfectionist friends!!! heehee.

So if you want a fun girls night I TOTALLY recommend doing something like this!!  I totally want to go back!!!

Thanks to all the girls that were able to make it…missed the crew that weren’t able to come out and play!! And Thanks Heather for being born…I love ya lots!! haha

Car Seats

Car seats are the biggest pain in the ass ever! I don’t meet many people that enjoy or even like switching and moving car seats in and out of cars! I hate it…and kinda can’t even do it. Its one of those tasks that I have delegated to Yosh…one of the forever tasks! lol

BUT the milestone of moving from infant carrier to forward facing car seat is a big deal. The new recommendations say to wait until kids are 2 years old. Yeah…thats crazy to me. In our house we do 20lbs AND 1 year old. Ella is one and ALMOST 20lbs…so I thought it was time! And this girl was excited!

We turned Owen around at the same time…when he was 1 years old (but he weighed 24lbs at his first birthday). And look at his little chubby excited face.

Ella Month-by-Month

After the first month of posing and taking all these pictures I totally thought it would be a quickly dieing trend…we would NO WAY make it for every month. BUT this year I shocked myself. I took a daily pic of Ella…but I also took monthly pictures of her as well. (I like to torture myself!)
Yes they don’t have perfect lighting (some were taken after work at 4pm)…Yes I could have probably done some major editing in Photoshop (could have is the key term there)…yes they aren’t cropped perfectly (I thought about that a few months in and it was too late)…BUT they are what I was capable of doing at the time. Was kind of like a learning experience! haha And here they are…

I’m sure you thinking “why would do you do 3 (actually I did 4 different poses) each month??” WELLLLL i saw all these ideas on pinterest and just couldn’t decided which I liked the most. SO I did them all…some are for her baby book, some her first year calendar, some for my classroom…SO they all ended up having a home.

But thought I’d share these pics. I love them all. Even though some of them were SUPER hard to take of her (like making her lay down when she didn’t want to). Was a fun experience!
