Easter

We dyed our eggs…and Taryn asked if we wanted to do an egg hunt w/ IMG_6139the kids in our backyard (since their backyard has been taken over by their big dogs!). I never even thought about doing our OWN egg hunt…but this year Owen was totally big enough to do one! Last year we participated in the Green River Community Egg hunt and Owen had to crawl to the eggs or use me to help him walk since he wasn’t walking by himself just yet! lol  So the Gerke’s and the Cilderman’s came over on Good Friday for a little egg hunt…it was  a lot of fun!

Ryland, Owen and Addi had a blast on the hunt for eggs…some were even empty! haha Ghetto…yeah maybe lol

The night couldn’t be complete without playing w/ The HATS! lol

Does anyone remember seeing this Easter picture when Owen was first born??

IMG_4569

When I glanced over and saw Owen on Yosh’s shoulder…being only 8 days old…I about had a heart-attacked, I seriously almost KILLED Yosh…Owen was so small! But since then…we’ve had to kinda make it an Easter tradition…lol

So this year, Easter Sunday was pretty awesome. Owen was so excited about the Easter Bunny coming to visit him…and I was kinda excited to play the bunny since he some-what knew what was going on!

The bunny must know Owen very well…very little candy, since Owen isn’t a huge fan of it. Heck Owen thinks Fruit Snacks are candy! But he got 2 movies (his new fav Spiderman), Lightening McQueen shirt, Woody shirt and a few other goodies. I hope the Easter bunny has this easy of a time forever! haha

We had a small family gathering..since our darn families are so small! Just us and both sets of parents came over for a “linner” (late lunch/early dinner).  I love watching Owen interact with his grandparents. I pray that he has the chance to have awesome relationships with all 4 of them!!! He surely loves his Papa, Mya, Nana and Ganga!

We chatted with our family that lives in New York via xbox kinect. Technology is so amazing…makes life a bit easier when we miss them!! This is our TV screen…not a great pic but VanSoest family in NY is on the left and The Souza House is on the right. Pretty neat huh?!?

Owen found a caterpillar while playing outside with Mya…and he loved it so much he squeezed it  :/  ewww.  We tried getting it from him before he “loved it to death” but I think that just made Owen squeeze harder and faster.  RIP Pretty Caterpillar.

For desert our extended family came over…Sister Teresa, Catherine and Sister Margaret (who is just a friend). They fussed over Owen…gave him more goodies…he was set!

But before Owen went to bed…he just HAD to get his grandparents to play with his cool costume hats…lol Ganga had one as well…wore it for 10 seconds and I couldn’t get him to put it back on for the picture…haha

And of course here are some pictures of Owen’s Easters…first one 2009, he was only 8 days old….last year 2010 was his first birthday…and then this year…just a normal Easter!

More memories that I truly love capturing!!

Coloring Eggs…for Owen or Mommy?

Have you ever tried dying Easter eggs with a 2 year old? HaHaHa. Yeah well it was pretty funny to say the least! While I was “egg-prepping” the kitchen for Owen and I…I was envisioning our colorful, perfectly decorated eggs…and Owen being cooperative and doing what he was told. Now he was cooperative…loved helping Mommy but my usually sensitive child was actually being ROUGH! Yes…whenever I asked him to place an egg in the little cup full of dye he’d drop/throw it in and crack it would go! lol Too funny.

Was so cute to see him color on the eggs with those invincible crayon. (He even thinks he can multi-task…watch cartoons AND write on the egg! haha)

I wonder what his little brain was thinking…

IMG_0411IMG_0423

Once all the eggs were in the dye…Owen wasn’t into the “waiting” part…so we played outside while they soaked and then had a bath while they dried.

IMG_0424IMG_0430IMG_0428

After Owens bath we had to finish our decorating. I’m not that brave…so there was no glitter, glue, markers, nothing of that sort…maybe we’ll do that kinda stuff in a few years. So this year we stuck with stickers Smile  But Owen LOVES stickers so it was a “great” idea by Mommy! haha

IMG_0448IMG_0449IMG_0450IMG_0457IMG_0462IMG_0460

The amount of concentration that Owen had while picking the perfect sticker and putting the tiny little thing ON the egg…was priceless!! lol

IMG_0452IMG_0459

Egg after egg…more and more stickers! It was so adorable!

Owen had no clue what all the fuss was about with dying the eggs…but it was a lot of fun for us parents!  Last year Owen turned 1 on Easter Sunday…so the dying of eggs was done by Daddy…Doesn’t he loook excited! lol
