Barf Sucks!

We had one of the roughest weeks ever…with being a mom of 2 kids I’m sure we’ll have many more weeks like this one BUT holy hell that was an awful initiation. The flu sucks…especially for little kids and babies…

So I left off my last post saying how Owen had walked in the door last Friday night and barfed everywhere…little did we know that he had the flu…and it was a flu that did NOT want to go away! Started with Owen…went to Ella (puking 6 times on Sunday alone!) then followed up with getting Daddy….THANKFULLY I never got it…I did an awful lot of hand washing!!

This was my week in pictures…(many of them were on IG)…with 2 kids puking a lot, trips to Kaiser, too much laundry…then my husband started puking…ahhh it was nightmare!

The pic below had my cracking up….I put Ella down for a nap and went downstairs to “rest” myself. Daddy had come home from work early not feeling well. SO I left him and Owen in bed together. An hour later I come up and Owen is PASSED OUT on the floor (which NEVER happens) and Daddy is PASSED OUT in the bed. It was so funny! My poor sickies!

All week only 1 child was feeling good at a time….it went back and forth. When Ella wasn’t feeling well she wouldn’t let me put her down for a second….it was sad…and Owen would help me lots always trying to keep Ella happy! And when Owen was sick he just wants his Mommy…and ONLY his Mommy! NO Daddy, No Ella, Nothing or no one! Which makes it hard when you are still nursing a baby that ALSO always wants you! (can you feel my hairs going gray yet?!?)
As soon as I thought Owen was feeling better he’d puke everywhere (the couch, my BED!, HIS bed at 2am!) and at any given time! (Laundry and barf clean up sucks and it REALLY sucks at 2am!)
  Then once Ella’s puking stopped her diarrhea started…lovely!  Owen FINALLY stopped puking after 6 days (he was the sickest the longest) and then we couldn’t get his fever to hit the road! uugggghhhhhhh. Stressful! And I’m kinda proud of myself I didn’t run BACK to Kaiser…we let it sort itself out! See I’m not the crazy mom ALL the time hahaha.

And with my Mother on vacation its been tough…I swear I’m not the sick one but I still wanted my mommy!! We got to FaceTime…
   
She’ll be thrilled I posted this! lol

What luck…poor Owen went from bronchitis (that lasted A LONG TIME), to asthma/allergy problems, to tonsillitis & ear infection to THE FLU! Really…how is that possible? BUT I’m hoping that we have it all behind us and heading to a healthier FALL season! Headed to our high schools football game last night…it was chilly and was a great reminder that FALL is seriously on its way!! Yay.

So this morning we are recovering from the aftermath of the Souza Flu…with some carpet cleaning! Thank God we had an awesome friend let us borrow their cleaner…Thanks Nicole!

ps. We will def be getting the flu shot this year!! Don’t wanna get THAT again!

All I can say is I’m REALLY REALLY REALLY over being sick! Not just me…but the WHOLE DARN HOUSE!

This DAMN cough started with Owen…July 18th! Yes you heard it right…2 months ago it started and we are STILL battling it!  Owen went to the doc back in August…remember this appt…


He were prescribed steroids to help with the chest inflammation.  X-rays came back negative for pneumonia (thank goodness!) Then we returned…and got some amoxicillin since the steroids did nothing a week or so later. 

At that point I became victim #2 and went to see my doctor to be prescribed steroids and antibiotics as well…before my head felt like it was going to pop with all the pressure…it was horrible!!! (ps. I finished my meds and still have a cough and feel like sh*t but don’t have the time to go back to the doc since I’m dealing with my children’s health!)

Love my doc…and love how he checks everything is his nifty book (to make sure I can take certain meds while breastfeeding!)

Owen finishes his meds…and still sounds like SHIT! So back we go again…this time his pediatrician says its allergies and asthma. So we get MORE meds…(an inhaler that costed $50!! wtf).  Start zyrtec and the inhaler…NO improvement. But Mom said it takes zyrtec a week to start working….so we wait….

Now Ella has started with a bit of a runny nose…but we ignore it…she’ll be ok! “Breastfed babies don’t get sick” (that’s what Mom said!)…

Tuesday night…Owen sounds BAD and I notice he’s having trouble when swallowing his dinner. But when I ask if his throat hurts he tells me no.  (Mama knows best!) So I check his tonsils (using a strategy I don’t recommend…sticking a spoon on his tongue so I can see his throat…he wasn’t happy) BUT I find white spots on his tonsils! I KNEW IT!  So off to urgent care we go.

Doc examines him…finds out he has an ear infection, so he HAS to prescribe antibiotics regardless of his throat and doesn’t do the rapid strep test to see if he has tonsillitis or strep because of that. Now that I think about it I should have MADE him to do the test…just to know!  While in Urgent Care I mention to the doctor that I have a 7 month old with a runny nose and cough…and when should I bring her in. He said…if her temp is higher than 100.4 bring her in! (Just wanted to get the advice before I freak out! haha)

So Owen starts another round of stronger antibiotics (second round in a month!)…and so Wednesday, I stay home with the kids! Thought it would do us 3 good to rest for a day…

After meds he seems to be acting JUST fine…if you didn’t hear the cough or see the boogers you’d think he was healthy!! lol

BUT…then my little lady starts showing signs of not feeling very good…

Red watery eyes, runny nose, and THE dreaded cough that Owen and I both have….Hearing babies cough makes me so sad! But her temp was 99.8…and was responding to tylenol. So back to work and Martha’s on Thursday…
AND, whadda ya know, at the same time Daddy starts feeling the sickness come on as well. And you know men when they have a cold…he was “dying!” (his words!). haha  he comes home from work, takes a cool shower and heads straight to bed….must be nice to get some rest when your not feeling good…hmmmm…. no rest for mommies

So Yosh is in bed…I go to pick up the kids…notice that Ella is a tad warm but we stopped at Michaels and picked up dinner for the “dying patient” at home haha. I take Ella’s temp and its 101.9! Yep…I eat dinner and head BACK to Urgent Care for the 2nd time in a week. Let me tell you…one of the worst parts of having multiple children is having to leave one sick kid to bring another sick baby to the doctor…ugh…felt horrible leaving both nights!

Anyway…when we checked in her temp was 97.1 (ummm…isn’t normal body temp 98.6?? I think Kaisers thermometer's are wack!…it HAD to be higher than that!) So I felt like an idiot…told the doc she had a temp at our house hahaha why I feel the need to justify why I brought my daughter in, I have no clue!

So Ella has a double eye infection (which I think means pink eye?!?) AND a double ear infection!!!!!! Oh my lanta….my poor baby! I just knew something was NOT right. My mom thinks I’m crazy sometimes but see…I just know when my babies aren’t feeling good!

So…now BOTH my children are on antibiotics…it’s the morning and night ritual…tons of meds…it sucks!

There have been A LOT of tears in this house lately! sad face.

Both kids went back to Martha’s today, Friday…feeling and LOOKING much better. We even went to visit Papa and Mya after work!

This evening we walk in the door and Owen is complaining that his belly hurts. I thought he was trying to find  way to get out of taking his antibiotic (he HATES it!!) Well yeah it hurt all right…he puked ALL over the bathroom! Like a real kid barf…poor little dude and he’s running a temp of 101.7 again. WHAT THE F*CK.

So… just wanted to vent…I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired!  I’m just praying that Owen hasn’t caught ANOTHER virus that involves puking! I want Ella to feel better and stop coughing…I want Daddy to feel better soon too….and my DAMN lingering cold to go away tooooooo! UGH. I wanna scream!

And to TOP it all off….My parents JUST left for their vacation in Ireland…Mom has been gone for less than 24 hours and MAN I miss her already!!! :: SIGH ::….they can NEVER move…I don’t think I’ll be able to deal! lol

But I will end this post on a happy/cute note…Owen built a “space ship” in our room using his toys…he was so proud of it…and it was cute to watch his imagination…

And it was even more cute to see lil sister LOVE being in his space ship too…and Owen actually not mind sharing with her. He was just concerned that she wasn’t wearing her seat belt while riding in it!! lol

Ok…I feel better after that vent. Now off to bed…I’m sure these kiddos will have me up all night! boo.

 

ps. I’m sooo thankful we have good medical insurance…I really do love Kaiser BUT seriously we have spent so much money the past 2 months in co-pays and prescriptions its crazy! I’m over Kaiser…so here’s to hoping we don’t have to go back next week! lol

August is done and dusted!

I can’t believe August is over…its seriously already September?? WHAT THE HELL!?!? Our Labor Day weekend has been extremely quiet…which is actually kinda nice.

And this 3 day weekend couldn’t have come at a better time…really needed that extra day off right about now as we head into our longest stretch of school…September 3rd until November 8th….oh its gonna hurt! lol I might have to take a personal mental health day at some point! haha But we have been in school for a month already…and some lucky peeps are barely heading back in the coming week…nuts.

Same ol’ Same ol’ over here…happy healthy kiddos…and happy parents! And this is our August via pics (a lot of these were on Instagram…my iphone seems to be the camera of convenience lately!)…and this blog post is just a picture overload!

This girl LOVED LOVEV LOVED the ice cream cone from Diary Queen. I know I’m not suppose to give her diary yet BUT I couldn’t resist…she wanted a taste sooo bad!

Our usual dinner time then evening walks are always fun for Ella and Owen. And my organized little man still lines his sharks up around the tub when hes allowed a “baby free” bath!

Our lady turned 7 months on Friday…and we headed to the first high school football game of the season too. It went great. She liked it…Owen loved it…was cool!

Ella and her bf Carter are growing like weeds…but Carter seems to be a WHOLE lot bigger than our little lady!! Wouldn’t think they are only 9 days apart right…??!?!

Ella’s eating foods…Owen is actually trying LOTS of new foods!!  Starting to prep for football season…life is good in the Souza house!

AND even being back to work I’m still going strong on my photo-a-day of Ella…its nuts…

I’ll admit even though I REALLY love summer…the sun, heat and everything that accompanies it…Fall sounds pretty appealing too!! Cooler weather…and some holiday cheer is coming soon too! I’m ready…
