Owen’s Day

You know when life starts to really pick up…like everyday of the week you have something to do or somewhere to go…then the weekends starts to book up before you are even on that page of the calendar…?? Yeah well I felt the past few weeks have been so so busy…so I decided to cancel whatever we had going for this weekend to spend it with my boys. I usually NEVER cancel…I tough it out, find a way to make it happen and make it to whatever I commit to…sometimes going to multiple engagements in one day… showing up late or leaving early to head somewhere else, stretching myself and my time to the max….but for once I realized I needed a weekend with my kiddo. I missed him!

The weekend before last I missed my Owen b/c of MY birthday festivities. NEXT weekend I’m going to be in Washington visiting my BESTIE and her new little man (OH how I can’t wait to get some newborn baby snuggles!!)…so I am already anticipating how much I’m going to miss Owen.  It will be the longest I have ever been away from him…and Yosh too. Will be weird. But at the same time I’m sooooo looking forward to getting to spend some time with Erika…I miss her dearly! So this weekend…I flaked on whatever I was suppose to go to…and just spent it with  them.

I asked Owen what he wanted to do…and of course he mentioned Sea World (his all time favorite place), Disneyland and the Beach….yeah so the Beach won especially since A) its free; and B) a few of our dear friends were heading in that direction as well.

We thought…heck its 98 degrees in Corona at our house…the beach as GOT to be beautiful…..umm…..nope not exactly. And it seemed that LOTS of “inland empirers” thought the same thing…since Corona Del Mar was pretty packed.

But if even though it was cloudy and cold…us, The Browns and The Cildermans all still managed to enjoy yourselves!! I LOVED watching my pale little child run around…pretending to be adventurous like Logan (who by the way RAN into the ocean but was terrified in a spa?!? What the heck! Logan is a crazy daredevil!!)

Life gets busy…but I’m trying my best to remember to stop, enjoy the moments before they ALL pass me bye! HECK I’m an old 30 year old WOMAN now….I’ve gotta realize these wise thoughts before I’m too old and senile to follow my own heart!! haha  We are all guilty of doing things or going places we don’t exactly want to…sometimes we go and enjoy ourselves…other times we wish we would have stayed home…and THEN there’s the odd time of just making something up and skipping out. I hate that…I feel guilty and bad about it…but this weekend…I just told the people I had committed to that I just didn’t feel up to it…and wanted to spend time with Owen. Luckily everyone understood…and I appreciate that!

A (cold) day at the beach…some warm spa time…an evening BBQ’d dinner….THEN a bonfire and smores…gosh…it was so awesome and relaxing.

My silly son didn’t want the smores like a normal child would…he just wanted to roast a marshmallow (and not eat it)…then eat a piece of chocolate (reese’s actually….pinterest told me to use peanut butter cups for smores rather than plain chocolate..and yummmmmmy…they were good!)…then he wanted to eat a graham cracker…all separate from eachother. He wouldn’t want all that food touching…wonder where he gets THAT from! haha Maybe someday he won’t be so picky with his food and enjoy the goodness of a freshly made smore!  Until then I’ll cherish all his little quirks…and try and remember to take a weekend here and there…do what he wants to do, with whoever he wants to do it with…and I KNOW those who love us will always understand!
