I swear I’m cursed with bad luck…I’m always getting hurt, sick, injured, etc…its been that way my WHOLE life. From as long as I can remember…I would break a bone and be in a cast at least once a year! It got so bad the people in the cast room at Kaiser knew my name!! Whether it was from softball, TaeKwonDo or just regular accidents I swear I’ve just been accident-prone my whole life.
Yes…like this picture I found of my 13th birthday party…that is me on the right dancing on crutches with my best friends, Cindy, Brandi, Amber and Brittany…broken foot from a sliding injury at a softball game. Go figure!
As you’ve read this blog I’m sure you have realize that this “curse” has followed me into my adult life as well, if its not my arse its my elbow (my mother’s saying!)…and unfortunately its kinda leaked onto my poor innocent child…heck he was having surgery at 6 weeks for his pyloric stenosis…what are the odds. I’ve always joked that Yosh is like a cockroach (in a good way)…he never gets sick or injured…and actually is a good care-giver! Well that streak ended…my curse got him…
Friday night at the football game he was innocently playing around with our co-workers 9 year old son…Yosh rolled his ankle and we all heard a pop!! Yeah…NOT good. Poor guy tried walking it off…but I knew he was hurt, his face got all pale and he said he felt shaky and sweaty! When we got home his foot looked like that!! Since he wasn’t in CRAZY pain we opted to wait until morning for the doctor’s visit…saved ourselves $100 ER co-pay! haha ((See he’s a trooper…I was a diva this time last year…remember this incident…that ended up taking MONTHS and MONTHS to heal…yeah I HAD to get to the ER…but he was a brave boy and waited!))
Anyway…got to the doctor first thing the next morning and x-rayed to find out that he in fact DID break his foot…he had a Jones Fracture. (they are so common they have their own name for it!!)
<----- See the arrow there…that’s pointing to the fractured bone on the side of his foot!!!!
(ps. I don’t know why his big toe looks so funky! haha)
And this x-ray shows you the fracture from the bottom…the arrow is again pointing at the fracture!!
So my poor brave hubs is now in a splint cast on crutches until his appt with Orthopedics in 2 weeks. I need to wrap my family in bubble wrap…
He’s not a great patient either…he hates not being able to get around as he wants…and his good foot and knee are starting to take the abuse of his hopping around the house!! So he’ll be laid up like so for a good 4-6 weeks….oh dear.
I forgot how great it was having a partner…because this whole solo parenting thing is HARD!! Cooking everything, cleaning everything, even taking out the trash…oh MAN!!! I’m not used to having NO help. I have a new appreciation for my bff’s Gabby and Cindy (and the other women) whom do this b/c of their men being in the military…SHIT its hard! Only on day 3 and I’m exhausted! haha.
And I think the worst part is that somethings are done better by daddy….example #1…and example #2….Grilled Cheese Sandwich.
YEP I suck!! haha I said before I’m not exactly Betty Crocker…and now you have proof…I are horrible at cooking!!!
So on attempt #3 I got the darn grilled cheese sandwich down and Owen was a happy camper!
We’ll get by…taking care of our Daddy. I think Baby Girl sensed it b/c she start kicking and moving like crazy this weekend…Owen and Yosh have both felt her moving around…which is pretty exciting!!
