My sister-in-law, Missy (Yosh’s “MUCH younger sister” haha), her husband Chris, my nephew Bailey and niece Peyton moved to upstate New York in 2002 (months before I met Yosh). Since the summer of 2003 we have seen them usually once a year when they come out to Cali to visit and ONE summer we went to them for 3 weeks (where we actually found out we were expecting our little Owen). I love love love when they come out. We get to spend the full 2 weeks doing family stuff. It would be so awesome if Chris’ job would relocate them back to Cali…but I don’t think that will be happening! Either way…they arrived Saturday the 16th. Yosh had to brave the drive to LAX through Carmageddon haha which was actually NO traffic at all! All the hype for nothing.
We eat our way through their vacations…with Del Taco, Wahoo’s, Frozen Yogurt, El Pollo Loco, In N Out, slurpees, slurpees and more slurpees…all the things they don’t have back home! The fam arrived and the eating and the bonding started with Owen and his cousins. Its amazing how much he loves them!!! The first day he kept mixing up there names, but by Day 2 he knew who was who!
Last time they were together was in July 2009…and gosh everyone has grown so much since then!
So we went to Papa and Mya’s house in Redlands for some pool time. These New Yorkers aren’t used to the dry heat here anymore…so within minutes of being in the house the whole family was in the pool for some refreshing playtime! ...Even Lady Dog got in on the pool action!
I’d say your going to see a lot of pictures of these 3 beautiful children in the next few weeks…just a warning for you all!! I love how Owen thinks they are so funny! haha
The VanSoests stayed at our house the first night…and they woke up to the “HOMEMADE dounuts” that I slaved over all night! LoL I mean the ones that Yosh ran and got from the dounut store before I even woke up. Poor Peytons internal alarm clock is WAY off…she was up and ready to party at 3:45am!
Day 2 included some shopping for Peyton at Tilly’s (another place NY doesn’t have), Wahoo’s for lunch, watching the Womens US Soccer team lose to stupid Japan…and of course…more swimming at Papa and Mya’s house. We can’t get enough of that pool! Even Papa got in on some pool time that day.
I’m excited for the awesome 2 weeks we have planned with the family. I just hope I’m able to squeeze blogging and my darn homework in! heehee.
