Weekend in Washington – Part 1

Three years ago one of my besties moved to Washington.  It was a sad day.  I knew life would change without having her around and boy has it!! BUT luckily I have been able to go visit her a few weeks after each of her kids were born.  So in April 2012 when Charlie was a few weeks old….and now just last weekend.

This trip I flew into Seattle…so we took the day for some sight-seeing!  It was so much fun!  We first headed to Pike Place Market. You know the famous place where they throw fish around and stuff??!?! Yeaaaaah I honestly didn’t know about it either. lol

From our parking structure this was the view. It was beautiful. On the far left are the baseball and football stadiums. It was Friday so they were very quiet BUT I’m assuming it was NUTS on Sunday for the SeaHawk game.

Pike Place Market is like an indoor swap meet that has a lot of awesome handmade vendors, but there are also fish/meat markets, fruit/veg, restaurants, TONS of vendors selling everything under the sun (or clouds/rain in Seattle).  They had guys selling pipes…which I was surprised to have only smelt marijuana once while up there. Erika got a GoPro camera for xmas…it was a fun toy! It even has wifi so she’d just text me the pictures from it! pretty awesome.

They would have the first just out in the open air…it was kinda weird and gross.

Pike Place Market is famous for a few things…one of them being the place where they throw fish and yell and stuff. People will stand around this particular part of the swap meet JUST to get a glimpse of the guys throwing huge fish.  They didn’t seem overly nice…they only want to throw the fish if you buy the fish. BUT We did catch them doing it…for like 30 seconds.  And they scolded the crowd for not cheering loud enough.

We walked around, browsed, ate and just took in the different environment.  It seemed like such a hippie town to me…I got the feeling of being in Northern California.  We came across this little mini doughnut place called “Daily Dozen”….OH MY JESUS…they were DELICIOUS!

We saw weird stuff and of course seemed to get all the good snacks we could!! A friend of ours talks about these snickerdoodle cookies from a shop here…so we found the shop and HAD To have a huge cookie! Yummy!

We got some lunch and let the kiddos stretch their legs a bit.  I’m amazing how well behaved Erika’s little ones are. Lauren (who is 6 weeks) didn’t make a peep.  And Charlie who is almost 3 was the same. They are great little travelers and site-seers! Then we headed to the Space Needle (yep didn’t know what this was all about either!….I need to read up on my famous state landmarks I guess).  Charlie’s favorite books is Larry Loves Seattle…so he kept asking to see the Space Needle over and over again like in his book. It was adorable.

After the space needle we made our way 3 hours east to where Erika and her family live. It was a beautiful drive…and the 3 hours flew by.

Leaving Seattle was cool. It was city and awesome and then before I could blink we were in the wilderness.

This picture is grainy and blurry…and man I wish I was able to capture how BEAUTIFUL it was in real life!! It was stunning!

And we arrived “home” into Warden (tiny little town in the middle of nowhere).  I was so excited to get my hands on Lauren and get a right look at her.  She is so funny….always such a serious face!! You know the funny ecard thingy on the internet about having a bitchface….lol thats Lauren. Always so serious! haha

We changed into jammies and then had a few drinks.  Was so nice to have my bestie back!!  Life isn’t the same without her around everyday!

….I was excited to get to spend my weekend with Erika and her family…I’ll write about that later.
