This was a different year for New Years Eve. We had the coldest weather I can remember here in good ol’ southern cali. When you look at the weather forecast and there is a snow flake you know hell has practically frozen over. We had rain and cold cold weather…it was nice. We didn’t see any snow HERE but my facebook and Instragram feeds were FULL of friends playing in snow!!
Usually for NYE we get together with friends. This year it was different. Some of our friends went camping at the beach again this year, some went on a mini vacation and that only left a few of us here at home. We would usually head to the beach for a day of fun BUT with the very chilly weather it didn’t sound too fun. So we opted to stay home…and the other friends who didn’t want to go to the beach either came here. It was a very quiet, small, easy night.
Our day started early, we had a few drinks via FaceTime with my buddies in Ireland and with them being 8 hours ahead we had some catching up to do. lol
The kids played all evening and us adults just hung out. It was nice. While the kids played us adults went through old pictures of the NYE’s of the past. We had some GOOD parties as young adults!! We even found a 21 minute video of the “Around the World” party of 2008-2009….oh my goodness that was hilarious. We were missing all our friends though…I was taking pictures of our TV screen with the video on it and texting the to friends. Just wasn’t the same to not have EVERYONE with us.
The best part was we let the kids go nuts and bring in the New Year, New York time. It was cute.
We got more FaceTiming in with my family in Philadelphia too.
We celebrated at 9pm…but continued to play Just Dance and have a good time…the night was young and the kids were still in good form so the “party” continued. Our friends headed home at 11:40pm…and our Owen actually stayed awake to bring in the REAL New Year at midnight. I was impressed. We went in the front yard banging on our pots and pans…Owen thought I was nuts! But then our neighbors set off Disneyland-like fireworks and that put Owen over the edge! haha Poor Owen.
I don’t have any resolutions this year. Just looking forward to the new year and what it has in store for us.
