Road Trips

Well this wasn’t exactly a “road trip” BUT it was a road trip! haha Yosh’s girls water polo team were in the Arroyo Grande Tournament this weekend. For those of you that don’t know, like myself, Arroyo Grande is a small city about 10 miles away from Pismo and maybe 20 miles away from San Luis Obispo.

When it came up a few months ago I thought I’d skip it and stay home with the kids. Then I thought I’ll go and BRING the kids.  AND the finally thoughts were…we’ll leave Ella with Nana and bring only Owen!  Ella SUCKS at sleeping in hotels, and she sucks at watching water polo, and she sucks at long car rides…yeah this wasn’t for her!  And Owen has gotten A LOT of one on one time with Nana and Granda over the years that Ella hasn’t gotten to experience.  So I thought it was only fair to give her some alone time AND Owen get some Mommy-Daddy time too!  It was a win win!!

Owen is the easiest best little traveler. Always has been…from river trips to airplane rides to Ireland…the kids is never an issue.  So the FOUR hour drive to Arroyo Grande was actually cake.  Give the kids an ipad with games and movies on it and he’s as happy as a pig in shit (I got that saying from Bernie…shocker right?!)

So it was me and Owen…and all the polo parents…but we had such a great time!

While we waited for the first game Owen and I visited an awesome little local cafe.  Love little places like that and our food was YUMMY!!

I don’t always get to watch Yosh coach these days….I go to the games but sometimes having Ella around it makes actually watching difficult.  So it was nice!

I was excited because between some of the games we got to visit Pismo Beach. A little town I have been wanting to see for a LONG time. We didn’t get to spend hardly enough time there so I’m hoping we can go back sometime!

I’m so lucky that Owen is such an easy kid. He made friends and played the whole day. And it was FULL of polo! And after the last game we headed to Olive Garden with 34 of our team members for dinner. It was nuts!

Owen was so excited to get to stay in a hotel with Yosh and I, WITHOUT his little sister around!
Saturday was another full day of polo! Owen never once complained or anything.  He’s the easiest child and I was so happy to have made the decision to bring him with us!  Poor Daddy had a rough day of coaching on Saturday…all 3 were tough and great games! But I think that all and all it was a great get away. I loved being able to watch the girls play, chat with some of them between games and be there for some support for Yosh!  He’s such an amazing coach, I love watching him and being there when he needs some support.
