January Beach Trips

January is always a crazy month in SoCal. You can seriously go from 80 degree PERFECT beach weather to a odd snow storm.

This January hasn’t disappointed.  New Years Day, I swear everyone in So Cal got real snow (it was as low as 1500ft)…except for us.  My facebook and IG feeds were FULL of “Do you wanna build a snowman” pictures.  I’m not a huge fan of the snow BUT was a little jealous because I wanted the kids to get to play in it for a few minutes (so I could take some pictures of them and call it a day! haha).  But we got rain and COLD COLD weather.   Then 72 hours later we were back in the 80’s.  So we headed to the beach…it was beautiful!

The second they got to the sand they were ready for some playing. Ella wasn’t too sure about the sand on her feet initially…but that didn’t last long. Thank goodness.  The water was FREEZING. Like in the 60’s freezing.  But you know kids…they have no sense of temperature. Crazies.

When you go to the beach in January, you pretty much have the whole place to yourself.  Owen and his bestie played and played. At one point I overheard them saying how they were Skylanders of some sort…love seeing the imaginations flow!  My friend and I sat and watched all our kiddos play and play. They are all at the somewhat easy stage…only need you for the occassional snack OR to wipe sand out of their mouths/eyes.  It was nice.  Ella and her boyfriend Carter are hilarious. Same age but TOTALLY different children.  And they only fought over sand buckets a few times (my stubborn lady is a bit fiesty!)

And to think that almost exactly two years ago (2013), Heather and I were at the beach showing off our 37 week prego bellies!  And now these little babies are playing away!

Yeah my bump was HUGE!!

We usually make it to the beach for MLK weekend (which is next weekend) BUT this year I’ll be visiting my bestie in WA so no beaches for me!  Glad we were able to get a January beach trip in this year though!
