Homework

Holy Cow homework SUCKS!

Yes its only kindergarten and I know he NEEDS to be practicing all his new skills while at home but Jesus this is tough. haha

I had asked my friends on fb about their after school routines…is it best to come straight home and get to work OR let kids play/snack BEFORE getting work done?!?!? 

So we tried both ways…coming home, playing, swimming THEN homework ended with everyone frustrated, Owen AND Ella crying and Mommy about to flip out!  We then tried coming home and straight to homework AND everyone was fine! Ella plays or colors next to Owen and he sometimes puts up a small fight BUT his work gets done much easier and quicker.  Every kid is different and it was one of those things that we had to figure out for ourselves.  But I knew it was something we had to figure out quickly…starting a good study/school work foundation is essential. I remember being a kid and homework was NO joke. We worked while snacking AS soon as we walked in the door from school. I’ll leave the person un-named who would come in the door from school…straight into the bathroom to sh*t and do homework at the same time….cough cough Jeffrey! haha No shame!

I love watching him work. I love the way he holds his pencil with his chubby little awkward fingers. How he talks himself through all his work…changing his voice and tone. Its like he’s telling himself a story…”I’m gonna color the S….thhhhheeee S…with my green crayon…yeah!!!”. haha His imagination is starting to REALLY shine through these days. I knew he always had one when he played with toys but its fun to watch him while doing school work too. Week 3 of school down…only 34 to go. We love our summers! lol
