I have lots of fun Mommy friends that are always looking for the best places to bring their kids! I have heard of Baby Beach in Dana Point and Mother’s Beach in Long Beach BUT I was recently told about the little hidden gem in Newport. I have named it Newport’s Baby Beach (have NO clue what its really called).
Its a little harbor just off 18th street in downtown Newport. When I was told to make the left turn I was sooo confused…we were turning AWAY from the ocean. But it was awesome. There is meter parking, so if you get there by 9:30am you’ll get a spot. (that was during the week…have NO clue what it’s like on weekends). And if you don’t have change they give a Parking App as a way to pay as well. BUT be on that…they have a meter-man walking around in normal clothes that checks those bad-boys!! (Yes I was the lady RUNNING to my meter before he wrote me a ticket!)
But you park about 20feet away from the water-line. So there is NO lugging shit while running over hot sand. They have showers, trash cans AND toilets all on this little strip of beach.
(we had the Crane’s, Cilderman’s, Gerke’s ad Svoboda’s…so no hope getting 11 kids under 10 years old to pose for a picture…just wasn’t happening BUT this was a darn good attempt!) And sorry these pics are fuzzy…my LifeProof case wasn’t clear and wouldn’t wipe clean…annoying!
No waves makes it SUPER kid/toddler friendly. Our kids loved being able to run in and out of the water as they pleased.
I really liked this little hidden piece of wonderfulness in Newport…especially for the days I want to bring both kids to the beach with the hubs to help. You will forsure see me going back! Thanks for the tip Heather & Drew.
