I know this post will annoy a lot of people…all those people out there with “real” jobs…you know the ones that don’t get summers, weekends, holidays and evenings off. I have to say I do NOT know how they do it. How do people work ALL year for 2 weeks vacation?? When I had a “real” job…back in my paralegal days…I used to get SO jealous of Yosh getting to sleep in during the summers. When my Jewish Attorney boss asked me to work on X-mas Eve I KNEW I had to make a change…so I signed my ass up at the U of R to get my teaching credential. Working 8-5pm, in a cubicle, for crazy attorney’s was NOT for me…at all!!! I was already having doubts in my profession BEFORE college graduation…I was so mad at myself for NOT sticking with my gut (freshman year in college the career I picked was teaching….why did I stray???) Oh well. I got where I was meant to be…I just took the scenic route of getting there.
Now, that being said…being a teacher is NO easy . We have to put up with kids (high school aged kids for me and the hubs!)…the good, the bad and the ugly! All the kids that parents are TRYING to get away from year-round. lol But its the BEST job on the planet. I really love teaching (remind me I said that in October when I tired as hell!)
We had a super awesome summer. Did LOTS, saw TONS and spent almost every day as a family (yes don’t worry we DID get away from time to time…we aren’t THOSE strange people that don’t mix well with others!)
Today was our last day of break…so the beach was calling our name (and then our pool was calling it too!!). We went to Bolsa Chica State Beach with our married teacher buddies. Us adults ALL dreading tomorrow…BUT watching our kids have fun was worth the windy, chilly weather! Nice to mourn with others…haha
It might have taken Owen ALL summer BUT today he finally braved boogie boarding. I think watching his buddy Caroline do it made him have to courage to try it. Was very cute to see how excited he was to catch a wave!
See ya later summer….here’s to another (hopefully) awesome school year!
