One of the activities we really wanted to do with kids, banking on getting decent weather in Ireland was going to Westport House. I’m not exactly sure WHAT the Westport House IS…but I just know there are fun things to do there. (We could have taken a tour of THE House buuuuut…yeah all the kids with us aren’t even able to read…so we skipped that for the fun!) Its located in Westport, Co. Mayo…which is about a 45 minute drive from where we are. Semi-local makes it that MORE appealing!
THAT is Westport House in the background. Jayden, Addison, Owen & “Big” Ella (Catherine’s niece whom Owen fell IN LOVE with…shes very shy and not making that face all the time! haha) Only baby missing is Gavin…whom slept through most of his first trip to Westport House. lol

The log ride. Yes Owen went on with Caoimhe, Shannon & Big Ella. I was SHOCKED he did it. I know it scared him lots but I was proud he tried it!
Slippery Dip Big Slide.
I went to Westport House when I was a kid in 1989. I don’t have many memories of the place apart from there being a big pink bunny AND the slippery dip slide. I remember me, my brother and cousins going on it over and over and over! And I found pictures… 
So getting the chance to go down that slide with my All-American husband and two beautiful children was surreal. It gave me the chills…and made me a bit emotional. I would have NEVER thought in my wildest dreams this would happen….and seeing the happiness on Owens face over this slide made my heart happy. Brought me back to my childhood…the little things that made us happy. 
It was a great day at the park…little difficult at times since Ella isn’t exactly the age to enjoy all the amenities BUT she held up pretty well!
