My son LOVES animals…like really loves them. All different kinds of them…big ones, little ones, furry ones, nasty ones…he doesn’t mind. So when my cousins wife asked if Owen and I would like to join Jayden on his school tour (aka field trip) to a farm I KNEW it would be a great mommy/son day out!!
Started off with Owen’s first bus ride…he was pretty excited and just sat, listened to everyone talking around him and looked out the window.
Upon arrival, all 15 of the 4-5 year olds were PUMPED to get into this farm…you could FEEL their excitement. So we put their wellies (aka rain boots) on and in we went. This place MUST be very popular for school tours because there were a few other groups there. First stop is to put down our packed lunches, bags, etc. and into a “fun room”. Let these little people RUN some of their energy off.
Then they kind of let us loose at this farm. Most of the animals had signs so we could read a bit about them…not like Owen cared about anything OTHER than the name of the animal.
Cool pigs, peacocks, rabbits, chickens, hens, goats, sheep, ponies, donkeys, ducks, etc.
A man brought out a snake….yes a SNAKE in Ireland. My mother told me there were NO snakes in Ireland…because St. Patrick banished them all…she LIED!!!!
Then outside to the bigger animals. Sheep, goats, rams, horses, donkeys, llamas, etc.
It was a tad chilly…and I was just waiting for the rain to start…but we were lucky enough to have no rain…just a cooool breeze. brrrrr.
Then all the other kids and moms ran off to another pen…and it was just me and Owen. These 2 donkeys ran over and were wanting us to pet them. It was the coolest thing. They were so big yet gentle. This one was trying to lick Owen’s face…it was so cool!!
Its not everyday people from California get to wear rain boots…so of course I had to take a pic of our feets! haha
Then we came across what ended up being Owen’s FAVORITE animal at the whole farm…it was a cat and one of its kittens! He was amazed by it. When we left all he asked about was the darn cats.
We then had lunch and it was followed by a half hour in this block garage type room full of sand and toys. But it was gross sand…like dusty sand. Yeah…eck. The kids liked it…all the parents weren’t too excited about it!
Such a wonderful day on our Mommy/Son date…Thanks for inviting us Denise and Jayden!!
And I think by the looks of things Owen had a GREAT time too….
