Anniversary Celebration…

Gosh…I’ve been BURSTING at the seems keeping this secret weekend get-away from Yosh. I’m NOT a good surprise gift-giver (or receiver). I hate surprises.  But Yosh LOVES surprises…like I still have to sneak down and pretend Santa leaves presents for him every year. He’s a gigantic child! But anyway…I thought for our anniversary it would be AWESOME to have a weekend away, no kids.  Some a few months ago I started thinking and planning. Vegas isn’t somewhere we go together very often…so I booked that. And yes…it would be nice to spend a weekend together…BUT I know having friends come along would be TOTALLY fun too. So I spread the word to all our friends….ALL of them! But now with everyone having lots of kids..busy summer weekends, etc. it ended up being 6 of us (most of the time…w/ a surprise guest appearance from Kelley the cheer coach and her hub Troy one night) could make it…us, The Brown’s and The White’s.

My goal for the weekend was to drink plenty, relax by the pool and enjoy my mystic tan oh and dance dance dance!

Night one was SUPPOSE to be a mellow night….but you know how that always goes…

Upon arriving at the Luxor we realized that we thought a suite would be better suited for our needs for the weekend. So we got a Tower Deluxe Suite w/ an attaching bedroom for The Browns. So we got to snack, drink and relax before heading out…

Ok…time to head out…first stop…the Nine Fine Irishmen at the New York New York. This pub holds a special place in our hearts…a few days after our wedding we went to Vegas w/ our family from Ireland. Oh it was such a night back in 2006…

Hey Sean and Kyla…does the woman that John Brogan is dancing with look familiar??? Yes that same little Asian lady has been there EVERY single time since we first were there many many years ago!!!

Now back in the same pub…sitting in the same booth from 5 years previous…was pretty cool.

The same band is there…with the lead singer who is from Bohola, Co. Mayo Ireland. Catherine Costello and myself met him back in 2004? at the Treasure Island pool bar.  We chatted…they figured they knew each others families..and we’ve been fans every since. This trip Kyla dragged him to our table…so I could explain the stalker-ness in person. So embarrassing…thanks Kyla!

Got a LITTLE bit of gambling in…and I mean LITTLE. My goal wasn’t to go to Vegas and lose lots of money…that’s NOT my type of a good time.  So everyone gambled…and I took the pictures!

After Kyla was drinking wine, vodka and lemonades, eating Potato Straws, beef jerky, pretzel crackers, McDonalds and topped it off w/ a pint of Guinness in a plastic cup…she was DONZO.  It was time to for Kyla to head back to the room.  Us and The White’s were no where finished w/ our night…so we thought it would be a great idea to get into the local NightClub in the Luxor called The Cathouse. What a waste of $10!!  Got 1 dance in before the  DJ sucked and we called it a night or should I say early morning.

Night two:

we started with actually eating a meal…something we hadn’t done the whole trip.  We ate at the Mexican place in the Luxor…was pretty yummy.

But you know yourself…with food comes being full, tired and not in the party mood. So we headed back to the room for a few drinks…and some visitors. Ron’s cousin from WY was in Vegas celebrating his 30th, so that group came up…and so did Cheer Coach Kelley!! Yay. Kelley’s hubs was playing in the World Series of Poker Tournament…so they walked an hour and 20 minutes JUST to see US!!

We ended up staying in the room, chatting, sharing and drinking for a LOT less $$ for mostIMG_3746 of the night.  Went downstairs for some gambling at 2am and I was in bed fast asleep by 3:30am.

I’d like to call that a victory of a trip.  Until it took us almost 5 hours to get home.  Darn Vegas traffic…yep that was us…stuck in it!

Was a very enjoyable weekend get-away with some awesome friends.  Happy 5 year anniversary…now where’s my ring?? haha Winking smile
