Pismo Camping

We were home from Ireland a little over a week and we headed off for a beach camping trip. I have a lot of friends who seem to go to Pismo a lot…like they do the family vacations there every year since they were kids.  So I really wanted to visit Pismo Coast Village…so what all the hype was all about.

The 5+ hour drive there wasn’t all that fun. The traffic going that way sucks!!! Yosh was nervous about this trip because we knew we were going to have to find a gas station where he could pull through with the trailer to fill up the truck. Another reason he gets mad at me for not getting the bigger better truck back when we were in the market. BUT we made it all work!

Central California’s weather is a LOT different than Southern California. Its cold! haha Even in July. It was CHILLY!  The Gerke’s joined us…Kris had to work so Taryn’s dad John (aka Papa) came with her!  Night 1 we made it easy for dinner and ordered pizza from somewhere local.

Love camping with others that like to run while on vacation. And are willing to run SLOW so I can keep up!  We got to see some of downtown before it came alive. 

And my running buddy came along too!!

Our first day there it was COLD. On the sand down by the pier and it wasn’t warm….at all. Which in turn made Yosh very annoyed. He doesn’t like cold beaches. Actually he doesn’t like Nor Cal at all. So he wasn’t as excited as I was about this camping trip.

The marine layer was NOT burning off.  So we headed back to our campground to see how the pool was. The kids LOVED it. The sun came out a bit BUT another thing that annoyed Yosh was the fact that they didn’t have a hot-tub. haha Yeah kinda weird to have such a cool place with no spa. Would have been nice to be able to warm up.

Kids and parents don’t care…we were able to hang out and relax.

Another morning run…this time we ran to get cinnamon rolls.  The place we went had a line out the door…and they were YUMMY!

We decided to ride bikes to a beach that was closer to the campground this day.  The sun came out and it was a big warm (except for that breeze…brrrrrr)

There was a playground on the beach too…which kept Connor and Ella busy for a good hour!!! 

The warm temp is cold in central california.  So Taryn brought the big kids to rent wetsuits. And they boogie boarded for hours!

We ate dinner at a cute beach front restaurant at the pier.

The nights were quiet. Papa would go into the trailer with the kids and watch movies…Maggie would sleep in our trailer and Yosh and his “sister wives” would chill by the fire and talk sh*t. haha It was fun.

We loaded up and headed home…and did NOT time it right. We left and hit traffic. LOTS of traffic. It took us almost 7 hours to drive home! NOT fun. 

I loved it. Not sure if Yosh did BUT I would like to go back!
