Keeping up with the movies and Hollywood theme…I only found it fitting to bring Caoimhe to Universal Studios. This is a theme park that is def only a place I come to when I have visitors. We left both girls with Nana and headed to LA for a day of fun!
Since the whole place as changed SO much since my last visit we walked in not having a clue where to go or what to see first. But we came across The Walking Dead attraction. I knew it was something Owen and myself would NOT enjoy…so we hung out getting acqaunted with the map while Caoimhe and Yosh got the sh*t scared out of them!
We quickly got our barring and headed to the Minion ride.
Owen loved it. Mommy hated it!! haha For the record…I suffer from severe motion sickness. Like…I’m the all time driver in our family but I just get so sick! So Universal Studios wasn’t my friend. 90% of the attractions are those motion simulators. BARF (and use I did puke!). So I sat on the rides. Closed my eyes, covered my ears and tried to NOT puke while ON the ride! All for the love of my child and cousin! haha. yuck.
One of my favorite parts of Universal is Springfield (Simpsons World). Its done SO WELL!
Seeing all of it kinda brought me back to my childhood. All 4 of us watching the Simpsons..which now I look back and think how inappropriate most of that show is. But it was Oh SO good!!!
One thing I loved about Universal was the lines. It would say it was a 40 minute wait…but the line never stopped moving. The constant moving made the time fly by and seem pretty painless!
Down the escalator to Jurassic Park (Owen was so excited!)
They bring out the raptors and its pretty cool. The way the trainer works with it makes you double guess yourself that its actually a robot and not totally real. Owen was even a bit scared because of how real they make it seem!
We ended up skipping the ride because we didn’t feel the need to get completely soaked! But something kinda cool happened. While we were milling about figuring out if we were going to get in line I spotted Chris Daughtry (American Idol star). He was a super nice guy and actually offered his pancho to me for the ride!! I snuck a pic of him…wish I would have made a quiet comment about liking his music…BUT I got star struck!
Next stop was the Back Lot Tour…thats another favorite of mine. Owen loved it…but it scared the crap out of him. He wasn’t sure what was real and what was fake. The flood scene, the earthquake part, jaws. I remember being scared of all the same stuff when my parents brought us here at kids.
One thing I found so different about Universal is that it gets rid of attractions when they are outdated. Like no more Back To The Future stuff. No more King Kong stuff. Unlike places like Disney…they just keep building more and more…never really replacing. Not sure how I feel about that. I like seeing the things that bring me back to my childhood. To spark memories that are down deep.
One of the HUGE attractions at Universal this year is HogWarts. Owen about dyed. He LOVED it. And I’ll have to saw…it was pretty damn impressive!
Owen picked out a wand as his souvenir…and we got one for Ella too.
I finally tapped out after the Harry Ride. I had to get me some Gilly Water and sit while the 3 continued on some roller coaster.
Owen opted for the pet show to end the night..rather than Water World (kinda wish we would have done Water World). But Owen loved seeing some of the famous animals from tv shows and movies.
It was a great day!! When we purchased our tickets I could have paid like $10 more and got a season pass. I thought to myself that we would never go again…well…Owen has asked EVERY DAY since then when we are going back. I think he loves this place the most. So…total Mom Fail not getting the season pass. Live and Learn.
