After taking the fall baseball season, Owen went back and picked it up like he never even took a break. I was nervous because season he was moving up to Single A…which is machine pitch. His teammates did Single A during the fall, so I knew Owen would be way behind…but surprisingly it only took 2 practices before he was making contact off the machine.
Opening Ceremonies was in March…and then our lives slowed down. Baseball 3-4 days a week…every saturday was a baseball day. Oh the joys!
Owen is at the age where we have to really critique his technique. He was starting to do some funky stuff with a high step when batting, and he wasn’t fielding confidently! So we’d come home and actually get some swings in. Its hard to get a 6-7 year old to listen and do what you tell them. haha
Watching the boys (and girl) on the team progress over the season was pretty amazing. We didn’t have very high expectations for them and they totally exceeded them! They were ALL hitting off the machine by the end, fielding, throwing and actually making plays! And in the early days, Daddy had his GoPro set up to catch all the at-bats. Love that we have fun footage to look back on!
Catching all the faces..was hilarious.
And every game he had a cheering section…usually just his sisters and parents BUT he loved watching him week after week!
We figured out that funky off-timing giant step and he turned into a decent little hitter! Making contact was all I cared about and we are hoping to get him into a batting cage soon. Not sure if they are too fast for him BUT gonna get him more bp
His coaches were all amazing. So positive and encouraging! They were SO darn patient with out kids and we were lucky to have them!
We participated in the Angels Little League day again as well…
Fun Memories forsure!! BUT bringing 3 kids to a professional baseball game wasn’t exactly “fun” for me! Glad we did it BUT we’ll be waiting some time before we bring all 3 back again.
Then May 14th we had our last game.
And our Brewer end of season party was immediately following our last game, made it easy, except Daddy had to go to a wedding that evening so I was riding solo. It was at a fun little park in Eastvale that had a water park but of course it ended up being one of the chilliest evenings. We bundled up, ate our pizza picnic dinner and watched all the kids get their awards. It was fun.
Maggie didn’t mind the cold..actually none of the kids did. I was frozen but they were running around like crazy!
But it was an amazing season. So much growth took place! Can’t wait until next season…they are moving up to Double A…kid pitch (holy sh*t…time for the tears!)
