I love Halloween. We work on Halloween in this country…which is nuts since Ireland gets the WEEK off!!! what the heck! Owens school doesn’t even allow costumes (sad huh!) but it was crazy sock day…and he was excited. And Ella and her buddy were almost matching in their pumpkin shirts at Martha’s daycare!!
At school our PE department even got into the holiday spirit and we did a Zombie 5k with our students. They could choose to be a Zombie (walker) or a Survivor (runner). Each having different time requirements for a passing grade! I took advantage and dressed up like a hoochie, I mean Zombie Hunter (yeah my costume was a bit short…I know I know!)
It was a fun day…and we actually had some drizzle/rain! Of course…only day in the last 6 months we had rain and its on halloween.
I hate carving pumpkins. But its something I know has to be done for the kids. We kinda ran out of time this year so I was more than happy to let Owen and Daddy have an afternoon together and carve before I got home from work with Ella!
I DO love dressing up. But I HATE trying to THINK of costumes or finding the time to get the costume together! haha Kinda doesn’t make sense right. This year I knew Owen was going to be wanting to be something that I didn’t dig…buuuut I let him pick what he wanted and that was his trick-or-treating costume….I would be picking the Halloween Party costumes! Ella got a hand me down that was adorable!!!
Sister was terrified of him with the mask on…so off it came in order to get a picture of them standing together!!!
Since Owen was born we have always left our little city and neighborhood and went trick or treating with our friends the Cildermans. Last year they had just moved into a new home so we stayed closer to home and trick or treated with the Gerke’s. This year we went back with our Cildermans and had a great time!! And I think next year we’ll come back to the Gerke’s…alternate every other year! We are lucky to have such a large group of friends that our kids never have to trick or treat alone!!!
Ella LOVED trick or treating…but the bag I had for her wasn’t a very good idea…she needed something that she didn’t have to open. So she lost the bag and would walk up the door and just hold the candy in her hand. She loves her candy…like really loves her candy!
It was a great night!! Thanks so much Cildermans for having us over!! Sorry Ella got crazy before we left….those terrible two’s are gonna kill me!
