We got out of the house!! Thank the Lord above, Yosh was feeling a bit better Monday morning. So we ventured to LA to the Natural History Museum. What a cool place! It was my first time there…I was impressed.
Upon arrival Ella was actually scared of the dinosaurs. She wouldn’t stand near them without Daddy. Owen has already been here so he was like my tour guide…telling me which exhibits to go to and where they were.
We did a lot of walking with not a whole lot of reading. Owen has zero patience for that part. He likes to look at everything but wants to keep moving…no lingering anywhere for too long. But as we wandered around the exhibits it brought me back to my childhood. My dad is a museum lover…so we grew up going to them on every vacation! EVERY VACATION. We went to Sacramento's state capital museum, Hoover Dam, Bonanza (yes the cowboy show), Tombstone, OK Corral, Castle’s in Ireland, everywhere. I remember being bored out of my mind. Bored near tears, while my brother and I watched my dad read EVERYTHING on the wall (and he’s a slow reader). Torture. It was miserable then but if only I could go back in time and try to enjoy and maybe learn a thing or two about the cool places we went. I never thought I’d be THAT parent but I totally am…and luckily one of my kids actually enjoys it.
When we got into the dinosaur area Ella just walked in and sat down in the middle of the room. I’m not sure if she thought they were going to start moving OR she was tired…but it was pretty funny!
It was fun watching the kids run from place to place…examine the exhibit and keep moving. They are so curious about everything…especially all the places that had things to touch. Made me realize that Owen is the perfect age to bring him to one of those discovery ‘hands-on’ type places.
Ella was all about the cute polar bear when he was laying down behind the glass…but when she was placed next to the standing one she FREAKED OUT.
We were watching in the dinosaurs footsteps…Ella was terrified. haha No clue why.
It was a great little family day…totally recommend going!
ps. Daddy felt better this day BUT woke up the next morning feeling like death again!!! He got it bad….poor guy.
