It has been unseasonably warm around here lately. I’m seriously starting think that our “seasons” are changing…or we are just skipping winter all together. Its so confusing.
Today would have been a perfect day to go to the beach BUT Daddy had some home improvement projects he needed to finish up and I didn’t want to brave the beach for the first time alone with 2 mobile kids! So I decided it was a great day to blow up the kiddie pool, fill up the water table, lather on the sunscreen and let the kids absorb some vitamin d.
Ella wasn’t having it at first…she was clinging on to me like a fly on sh*t. (haha that's one of my mothers saying fyi). Owen knew the routine…kid loves playing outside, especially if I’m outside with him. But I’ll tell ya…today was day ONE of 2014 when we have said “damn I wish we had a pool!!” ….just maybe…someday!
As Ella warmed up to the idea (literally, it got hot quick!) and liked all the fun that Owen was having she found herself drenched and trying to drink the water out of the pool table (barf!) But I sat and thought…I’ve seen this before…March of 2011…my little man was almost 2 years old and enjoyed this table when it was fresh out of the box and all parts attached!
At first I thought they were the same size…but no….she is MUCH smaller than he was (thankfully since he’s 23 months and she's 13.5 months)
It was a good day. I have been starting to really doubt myself and my parenting with the way that Owen has become addicted to technology. He ALWAYS wants either the ipad OR a show on…at all times. Now don’t me wrong…I’m not on that bandwagon of “Banning Technology for Kids” BUT I know we need to regulate his little ass on it too!! Because when he doesn't get his way he throws a fit. So the past few weeks we have been having talks with him about life! lol I know its a bit early BUT its happening already! haha. God help me come August and Kindergarten…haha So it was really nice to see him play outside ALL day. Came in for lunch, a nap and then right back outside until dinner time. Was cool! We needed a day like this.
He loved sharing his toys…showing Ella how the boat works (its kinda pathetic boat now, but it did the job for Ella today! haha)…and being the best boy ever.
