BFF Quality Time

We are very blessed to have many friends…many different groups of friends…and some friends that are more like our family! Its truly amazing.  Our groups of friends are the typical, “his”, “hers”, “work”, and “ours”.  But it seems that our groups are starting to merge more and more…which I seriously like!!  But I still have “MY” friends…and I do need MY time with them!! But unfortunately “my” friends are spread across the west coast…which makes quality time hard!!!
Since its summer time I decided it was a great opportunity to get to go down to San Diego and spend some time with my best friend Gabby…we’ve known each other since 6th grade and become BFF’s in either 7th or 8th (I don’t remember, its all a bit fuzzy that far back).  Anyway…as with all relationships we have grown so close that we have our fights, disagreements, battles but still ALWAYS go back to each other and love one another so much.  We have more of a sister relationship than anything else…just like I have with a few of my other very best friends. We are growing up and some of us are growing apart…but I guess that’s suppose to happen! But I try to make time for all my friends…especially those that make time for me. I’m getting to the point in my life where when a relationship is one sided, I’ve started to “give up”…and try not to stress about it. That’s life right?!?…sometimes some of us grow apart…and if there is no effort to maintain a relationship from both people…it just doesn’t work…and that’s ok…right?!?
Anyway…back to Gabby.  Last March, Erika, Owen and I headed to San Diego for a slumber party…we had lots of fun!! I decided I needed to try and spend that kind time with Gabby and her family at LEAST once a year.  So Owen and I headed to San Diego yesterday (and we really missed Erika this trip!).  But It was great to see Gab and let our kids play and give us time to just chat, hangout, relax, just like old times!!!
We headed to the beach…Shelter Island Marina…just minutes from Gabby’s new house in Point Loma.

Gabby brings her kids, Ronnie and Penny, to this spot all the time….its perfect. No walk the sand, there are fire pits, no big waves…its awesome!  When we got there I noticed big BLACK things in the water….

Yeah…that’s a big ass black/purple jellyfish thing!!! There were about 4 of them that crept to the shore line…and were wading back and forth…it was gross! So Ronnie was scared to go in the water…I was scared to let the little kids in the water in case a piece of their tentacle broke off and stung them…it was gross.

Nasty giant alien creeper jellyfish were all up in our pictures…made me laugh when I looked back at the photos of the day…like we’re relaxing, kids playing in the sand and these HUGE jellyfish were chillin’…..eck..yuck!

It was a “very” warm day for San Diego…77 degrees wow…!! heehee…isn’t that cute IE people (where today was like 104 degrees and they were “HOT” in 77 degrees)…so the beach had many cute little families there. The weather was gorgeous…the kids were content in the sand…it was awesome!  There were 2 little boys that started digging a huge man hole…and I sat and watched my child “socialize” for the first time.  It was so funny…he was chattin’ away to them (and their mother) about anything and everything…he never shut up!  Luckily the boys were really sweet and let Owen play with them…even built him special steps into the hole and would help him out when he was done being inside…

They took care of Owen…and I realized that my child would so be THAT child to walk away and seriously get stolen if I took my eyes off him! Mom said I was the EXACT same when I was a kid.
She told me a story:  When we lived in Long Beach I was about 4 years old…I was outside playing (side note: why would my mother let a 4 year old outside by herself?? wtf?? haha) when she heard me come in the front door..she heard my voice and another adult female voice! I guess while I was playing outside a real estate agent was in her car and I invited her in to talk to my mom and told her my mom would make her a cup of tea…My LANTA…I could have been abducted!!! haha  I think Owen has the same social butterfly trait in his little body too!!

Our Fun beach day was followed by some bath fun…

My gosh…such a change in these 2 little people in just one year!!!!

Woke up this morning to a wonderful breakfast cooked by Gabby…and THEN she took care of me and painted my toe nails…can you say AWESOME!!! Since Wally is still healing I will NOT be visiting any nail salons anytime soon…don’t wanna risk creating any siblings for Wally!
