First off…..HAPPY 4th of JULY people….We have a fun day of BBQs and fireworks with friends and family…will post about that later!
Now back to what I was gonna write about…
For whatever reason this family goes in spurts of having to go to Kaiser…I swear we’ll go a few times in a week…then won’t be there for months. BUT this was one of the “on” weeks. Owen had his 3 year check-up (yeah don’t judge me b/c he turned 3 over 3 months ago!…we were busy until now!) and I had a “Wally” Check-up with the podiatrist.
Owen’s appointment was so funny! When I made the appt he was telling me (while crying) he didn’t want to go to the doctor, and he was scared. But I told him that they were just going to check his heart, his ears, his eyes, his mouth and his nose. He calmed down and seemed to be ok with that. When they called his name he jumped up and walked toward the nurse, letting her know that “He’s a big boy now…and he traded in his dodo’s” the nurse just laughed. Owen thinks the nurse IS the doctor everytime (they are both Asian…so that might add to the confusion).
His stats this year at THREE YEARS OLD are….
Weight: 32lbs 5oz (in the 47th percentile)
Height: 37.5 inches, 3’1” (in the 32nd percentile).
Yeah he’s kinda short…but that’s ok! (My poor little dude…hopefully he hits a growth spurt and isn’t a midget forever!)
When we got done with the appointment Owen bumped into the nurse. She asked if the doctor checked his heart…and he said “Yes…and my underwears too!” haha It was one of the funniest things Owen has ever said!! The WHOLE office started cracking up! haha And Owen told Nana and Daddy about the “underwears check” as well! haha
And I’m sure you probably can tell I’m one of those crazy mom’s that actually DID/DOES my child’s baby book…and still keep up with it to this day! So when I got home from his appt and entered all his info in for this year, I got sad looking back over his stats throughout his life. He’s growing…and soon the baby book will be complete…THEN what do I do??? …I know…I’ll start another one…and just change all the titles of the pages! hahaha j/k…I’m not THAT crazy! I guess I’ll just continue to blog about him…and when he’s old enough he’ll read all of this and be SO embarrassed that I put his life on BLAST via the internet! haha
And this particular appt brought back many memories anyway…itwas in the same room that Owen’s very first appt with Dr. B was in…Back in April 2009 I remember this day b/c it was one of the first times we left the house after he was born…and I was so uncomfortable, had MAJOR anxiety and everything was still sooooo new to these learning parents! The appt when Owen pee’d AND pooped all over the table (and on daddy) since Daddy was still getting used to the whole “quick changing technique”. The controlling mother actually LET daddy change a diaper and of course…explosion! haha
His stats back then in April 2009, my little baby was 2 weeks 6 days old:
Weight: 8lbs 15oz (45th percentile)
Height: 21 inches (50th percentile)
Then in April 2010…for Owen’s 1 year appt…
His stats this appt were….
Weight: 22lb 15 oz (50th percentile)
Height: 29.5 inches (55th percentile)
In October 2010 for Owen’s 18 month appt (he’s not a happy camper in these pictures…they were right after all his shots…my poor baby!)
His stats:
Weight: 25 lbs 9 oz (50th percentile)
Height: 32.6 inches (60th percentile) OMG my son was above 50% for once! haha
His 2 year appt in April 2011…
GASP…I have NO pictures of that appointment….OMG. I’m rotting in hell! haha j/k.
But his stats were:
Weight: 28lbs 4oz (56th percentile)
Height: 34 inches, 2’10” (38th percentile)
His 2nd year of life we seemed to be visiting Kaiser more frequently…this year he was diagnosed with asthma and had a few trips for breathing treatments. Joy! Another asthmatic to add to the family.
My BOY is growing…not like a weed (super fast) BUT is definitely getting bigger and becoming such a little man. From now on I’m going to make sure that I take pictures at all his “check-ups”…I’m bummed I missed a year! Darnit!
Wally is healing well…the doctor apologized for letting me walk out of the office after the procedure without the lidocaine ointment. He couldn’t believe I lasted 4 days of soaking before I emailed him.
But the scab should fall off eventually and the healthy skin will take some time to come in. AND if I see even a SPEC of a wart returning to call IMMEDIATELY!
OH and the biopsy came back that it was a “Verruca Vulgaris” (common wart)…yes it was a regular wart…THANK HEAVENS!
So all the nasty pictures I was posting on instragram and fb will now stop…your welcome people! haha
Glad to hear that Owen is doing well! And man I'm going to miss those pics of Wally. I torture my husband with them every time you post one! haha!
