Many years ago I remember a certain person (my husband) talking sh*t on people for using fake tree’s. He was ALL about the real tree and only “old people” use fake tree’s. I get it. I grew up getting real tree’s as well. LOVE the scent, the feel, the picking, the parent argument setting it up…love it all.
A few years ago we were going to Ireland at xmas time and needed a fake tree since we were going to be home to water and care for a real one. So we purchased.
Last year we got a real tree and it was SO DEAD by xmas that it ruined the feeling for me. So this year…we decided to decorate the house for xmas the weekend after Thanksgiving (family record to have decor up so many days before xmas!) BUT I liked it. We got to enjoy it for longer and we loved it. So we turned into “those people” and set up that fake tree…
We had 3 helpers to decorate the tree…Maggie tried very hard…and we had 3 causalities
Ella got to put the star on top this year…Owen might be getting to large for Daddy to lift and Ella had never got to do it before…
Actually…it looks like Owen has OWNED the star job since birth pretty much….haha
Then tried to get a cute sibling pic in front of their creation…I let them decorate…like 3 ornaments to the same branch…and I left it (unless it proved to be unsafe!) haha So hard for my Type A personality BUT its their tree.
And with having the tree up and decorated our kids felt the need to turn on music and dance in front of it every night or every time we entered the house through the front door! It was cute actually!
And this year…on the last day of November, big brother read the Elf book in hopes that Elfie would make his appearance from the north pool! It was cute listening to him read to his sisters…
And…what do you know…Elfie showed up!!!! With Xmas jammies…his usual first night delivery!
I looked back and realized Elfie has been coming to visit Owen for a LONG time now…
Let Christmas time begin….
