I love the 4th of July. Some of my most favorite childhood memories come from the 4th of July. We used to have ROCKIN’ block parties on Redwood Drive….back when neighbors knew each other and everyone got along so great.
My babies have grown so much since last year…
July 4th is the day to have the All-American BBQ, play in the pool and relax with family and friends. The past 6 years (since we have owned this house) I have always wished we had our own pool and were able to have our own BBQ. And FINALLY….I got my wish. This year we had our FIRST ANNUAL Souza 4th of July Splash. It was also the first time having anyone over for a pool party…so we kept it somewhat small…have to learn as we go as to how this will all work out. Finding out by experience the pro’s and con’s to our pool set-up.
I use the Camera+ app that has a self timer to get our group pics. I set it up and the run! lol Then add the text using A Beautiful Mess app….
This was the timer on my Canon 60D…Lindsey had an important phone call to take…haha she was a trooper and tried doing the picture while continuing her convo! lol
I think everyone had a great time…other than all the bloody toes. Our acid wash concrete AND the new pool bottom TORE this little toes UP. There were lots of bandaids going around (until I ran out) for all the bloody piggies. ((Sorry kids…water shoes are a must at our pool for a while!))
I’m proud of my little man…he tried some Halibut. Travis has caught it fishing the day prior…and Owen was super excited to try it. He loves his Travis! And of course…whatever Owen has…Ella wants too…so she had some halibut too!
Joel brought over “The Game of the Summer”…its called washers. Same as corn-hole but with metal washers.
Us girls even got a few games!
Daddy Play Time…they are way more fun in the water than the mommies. lol
Our little lovebirds…lol not really. Carter plays hard ball.
The day consisted of swimming, eating, playing, more swimming, more eating, swimming again and then of course some fireworks.
Who wants some FIREWORKS…. “MEEEE”
Ella loved the sparklers. And would have REALLY loved the “big fireworks” but she was a tad tired (we did fireworks at 8:30….way past her bedtime). Owen did ok. Of course he was covering his ears…get nervous from time to time. He liked our “Safe & Sane” fireworks BUT we had some neighbors doing the BIG ones…it was sorta like Disneyland on Wells Spring! lol
It was a great day!! Look forward to next year…and many more pool parties in our future. Hoping our acid wash concrete smoothes out a bit…and I gotta start buying band-aids in bulk. Poor kids.
