My mother turned the big 60 this year…back in February when she was still in Ireland. They didn’t do anything over the top…she had a night out in town and a girls over-night with her sisters. I knew I wanted to do something for her on this side of the planet as well…but wasn’t sure what and when and how it would all happen.
The parents got back state-side on March 15th…same day that this amazing wife let her husband go to Las Vegas for March Madness with his buddies.
Owen got to make the airport pick-up run with me this time…love seeing the happiness on both of their faces!!
And since my husband was away, my mom had planned on coming over to my house on St. Paddy’s Day and having a sleep over. So I quickly planned a little gathering for Mom. Had a few of her dearest friends come over for a visit. It was a surprise…well until the day of…I didn’t want her to come over with no make-up, in jammies. So I told her the plan that day.
But lets rewind. All my kiddos in their green for Saint Patricks Day…gosh I make some cute kids!!
I made some chicken curry and rice. Loaded up on mojito’s, margarita’s, wine and gin. Got a cake and BAM…we had a party! The kids were so excited to through “a birthday party” for Nana.
Was great seeing mom relax and chat with her buddies.
Cake Time!! Owen and Ella were so excited!
I had thrown out the idea of going in the spa that evening…you know since Nana is an old lady and all…thought all the women wouldn’t go for it…but they all DID!! So around 10pm…yes we are totally party animals…we headed for the spa!
And as planned…mom spent the night. Nothing like sleeping in the same bed as your mama. I love her so much and hope and pray I look this good when I’m 60!!
Oh and I was so proud of our gift to her!! A was brainstorming what to get a person who has everything…and my friends husband (Thanks Chuck!) gave me the idea to customize Nike’s. A-MAZ-ING! They were so so super cute and I know she loved them!!! Score!
Happy belated birthday Mama. Thank you for always being amazing!
