Kiss Me…I’m Irish!
This year I sucked as a mother for our holiday! St. Patricks Day is such a big day of celebrations all over the world…and when we were younger (BC: before children) it was celebrated heavily with a good few alcoholic beverages. Give us any excuse to booze it up and you don’t have to ask anyone twice!! haha But oh how times have changed.
But the past few years I have slacked on celebrations…as a mother…and this year was probably the worst! Heck I didn’t even decorate the house!!!!!! Can you believe it. Its sad really. After I packed all the valentines decorations up I didn’t have the motivation or energy to bring the Paddy’s day gear out. I really have no excuse…valentines and st. patricks day decor can be found in the same rubbermaid container!!!! I just didn’t have it in me. I told my mother I felt like a failure…and even more so when I checked facebook the morning of St. Patricks day and I was about the only mother who didn’t create a leprechaun mess, leave chocolate gold coins or anything for my deprived children! And it was a great year to do it…Owen already had a leprechaun come and mess up his classroom the day before so he got the idea!! But my lack of energy has been brutal!
I took the kids up into the southridge hills for a little photo sesh…while I was up there I had their St. Paddy’s Day clothes with me so I threw those on and took some. Our hills looked so green…which is a very rare thing. The southridge hills are usually brown…very dry and very brown! But Owen loved the ideal of doing some leprechaun hunting…I played along…Ella bitched about the sand getting in to her sandals.
So ON actual St. Patricks Day we went back in to the hills (at a different entry point)…and took some more silly pictures…
I found some silly leprechauns!! haha
But we didn’t have any traditional Irish meals, we didn’t have any traditional Irish beverages…we came home, fed the kids corndogs before heading out to Daddys water polo banquet (wtf…who planned it on St. Patricks Day?????)
It was a great night…celebrating a great team. And I’ll blog more about my hubbys coaching stuff.
But all in all our St. Patricks day was just another day in the crazy life of the Souza’s.
My goal is that next year I actually celebrate it properly!! As a Good Mother, Good Wife and GREAT Irish woman!! lol (ps. I’m tired just thinking about it!! haha)
