The past few weeks Owen has been practice twice a week with his new Rookie Tball team. I’m seeing him improve right before my eyes…and its pretty cool!!
This weekend Owen participated in his first Opening Ceremonies.
The weather was beautiful…actually a tad hot…yes in March it’s already getting hot! Owen had no clue what to expect…but the whole thing brought me back to Village Park in the 90’s. Eastvale Little League is so big they have the girls softball Opening Ceremonies on a different day…so it was all the baseball teams this day.
Seeing all the little tiny boys in their Red Sox uniforms was so adorable. And I love how you can tell all these kids are in kinder and first grade…getting them in line didn’t take much..
They also do a small little parade as well…it was ADORABLE!
Ella was entertained for about 90 seconds…lol
So they paraded in and then got all set up on the field for the ceremonies. As a kid I remember them being LONG and so boring…but as an adult I thought this opening ceremonies was nice and quick.
I had a little moment at these opening ceremonies…
They recited the Little League Pledge. And I could NOT believe that after almost 20 years I recited it. I didn’t even know I knew what a Little League Pledge was.
I trust in God
I love my country
And will respect its laws
I will play fair
And strive to win
But win or lose
I will always do my best
But as the little league commissioner started saying those words I started saying them too and totally got teary eyed! It was the weirdest thing. Yosh doesn’t quite understand because he had never attended a Little League anything…poor deprived child! haha But Daddy will learn…he’ll learn to love it!! haha
Anyway…Owen was on the field with his team and dying of thirst…poor kid! haha Thank God we have awesome team moms and coaches that took good care of him.
But its a day that I will have to remind him about in like 30 years…I’ll keep his memories alive! lol
Then we came back to the ball field a few hours later for a 4:30pm game. Owen went 2 for 2 at bat and I was a happy Mama!
And some of the Red Sox spectators just weren’t that into the game…haha Oh to be a 2 year old little girl.
So our first day of the spring season has begun. Goodbye Saturdays! Between now and May Owen has a game every Saturday and one during the week too…as well as a practice! Yeah…the sacrifices we make for our children! But I know that my little league family/friends are some that I love to this day. The memories of spending every Saturday at the ball field are nothing anything can compare to! I hope Owen enjoys these years of his life as much as I did!! And I can’t wait to watch him grow as a player!! He’s a little baller!
