The month of October is always jammed packed with festive “stuff”.
Last weekend we attended a Halloween themed play date. It was nuts! 19 kids and it was hot. So costumes didn’t stay on long.
Costumes off and outside playing for the afternoon. Crazy that the kids are in the blow-up pool and its OCTOBER. I officially have nicknamed this month #hotober. Go away HEAT!
We met new friends and saw some old ones!! Thanks so much for inviting us Holly!!
And so far this weekend we visited our first pumpkin patch of the season. And I’m saying “so far this weekend” because its only Saturday at lunch time. So many possibilities for Sunday.
I have heard about the Cal Poly Pomona Pumpkin Patch before…and decided we’d try it out this year after my friend mentioned it. Holy Jesus…its a madhouse! We thought we were good getting there about 45 minutes after opening (8:45am). But man it was already PACKED. They advise you to bring a wagon for carrying pumpkins…its a long walk from the patch to your car.
We met some friends and let the kids explore. It was fun to watch them examine each pumpkin. My kids weren’t fans of picking them up or touching them…shocker.
I’m shocked that Heather got such a good picture of 5 kids sitting and smiling! AND it wasn’t even that big of a fight to get it! Good Job Heather!!!
Owen preferred to play freeze tag with Ryland and Ella enjoyed dancing to the crappy cover band’s music. Good thing we came to a pumpkin patch huh. As we searched for the perfect pumpkin the patch was filling up. Its crazy how big the crowds get! But I guess since its only $5 per pumpkin, regardless of size, people will make the trip to save the money!
Daddy stayed busy….
He doesn’t like crowds too much! lol
Owen was searching for a square pumpkin but had no luck. But we found 2 that were good enough for us and I tried getting the kids to pose with them…
Owen not paying attention (as usual) and Ella wouldn’t stop kissing the dirty thing!
Finally got her lips off it and they were proud of their choices.
The sun started really warming up and the kids were over the whole pumpkin idea! So we loaded up and were off to pay and head out before the melt downs started…
Our pumpkin adventure started off nice and cool out. We were wearing sweaters and pretending it was fall!! But as the morning went on the sun came out, the crowds got crazier and it was our que to get ourselves home!! lol Only in California can we wear sweaters and boots in the morning and then be swimming in our pool in the afternoon. Crazy.
This morning was fun. Definitely a good experience. And if you don’t mind taking a long walk, carrying your own pumpkins and large crowds, I totally recommend it! lol That doesn’t sound very fun but its actually not that bad. We are already thinking about our visit for next year!
