Maybe I shouldn’t title this as “problems”…but the more this pregnancy progresses, the more I realize how much DIFFERENT it is than when I was expecting Owen. I should have known he was going to be the perfect little baby (never cried, slept well, easily took to nursing, was pretty darn easy all around!)…because my pregnancy was also SO easy. I would have never even known I was pregnant…except for my HUGE belly and my HUGE swollen feet. Those were my only 2 symptoms!
NOW this little lady…she is a different beast completely…giving me hell and she's not even CLOSE to being here. At least I know I need to start preparing myself for what kinda child she is probably gonna be!! Here are a few highlights from the past few weeks….haha
- Failing my 1-hour glucose test at 26 weeks… (50mg of pure sugar)
I got a 160….and its suppose to be >130. oops. I guess the McDonalds at 10pm the night before was NOT a good idea! (With Owen I got 80…passed NO problem)
- Enduring the 3-hour glucose test at 27weeks…praying that I pass since the holidays would be TORTURE without being able to eat some candy, cookies, cake, ice cream, etc.
I LOVE the orange drink they give for these tests…tastes JUST like an alcoholic beverage I used to drink in Ireland called MugShot or Corkys (of COURSE when I was OF drinking age…how dare you think I was barely 15 years old downing them like cool-aid)…and it seems that baby girl liked it too…she was movin’ like crazy from the sugar high. I tried catching it on video but OF course every time I hit record she wouldn’t move.
So after 4 blood tests in 3 hours…and getting some MAD internet reading time in (including the black friday ad’s that had leaked to the internet)…I passed the test. Thank HEAVENS. I was about as happy as I was when I passed the CSET in Physical Education! haha I love kp.org thought Kaiser…get your test results sent via email AS SOON as your doctor gets them! AWESOME.
So with this whole glucose scare I got to thinking…hmmm I’m 27 weeks…but I’m feeling pretty large and in charge! I decided to look back at my pregnancy pics….and here is what I found…28 weeks prego with Owen
…and this is me at 27 weeks with Baby Girl…
Maybe seeing these bellies bare and side-by-side will help…
Yes…you can say it…OH SHIT! I’m just a TAD bigger this time Geeeezus I’m huge already!! I’m gonna have me a chunky little monkey in a few months!! haha No newbie clothes will be needed for this little lady (and I’m talking about Baby Girl…not myself! hahaha!)
-Sciatic Nerve pain…seriously…what the heck. Its not unbearable…just kinda annoying! After painting a dresser yesterday I could barely walk last night…but was alright when I woke up this morning.
- So today I saw my OB…got to chatting about all the usual pregnancy stuff…Braxton Hicks was my #1 thing…I get them pretty intensely some evenings. I never felt a contraction with Owen…so this is new to me…I thought after the infection cleared the contractions would stop…NOPE. Still getting them…and some evenings so badly I have to have Yosh get Owen ready for bed while I drink water and lay down for 30 minutes or so! The OB didn’t seem tooooo worried…but she did say to go into Labor&Delivery if they get too bad and sent me for a NST (Non-Stress Test) just in case. It was kinda cool…every time I felt baby girl move I had to press the button…I felt competitive like I had to make sure she moved “enough” (whatever enough is!) haha
So I got to experience the “recliner time” that my friend Lili speaks about on FB. I guess when you have gestational diabetes and/or other issues during pregnancy some women have to go for these NSTs up to a few times a week…nuts! But I will say it IS relaxing to lay back in a recliner and rest while listening to your little babies heartbeat…its pretty soothing! The NST was great…no contractions and baby sounded wonderful! All is good in the world of Miss Ella~
So these are a few of my “experiences” this time around…and how they are a tad different than last! I’m sure these fun times aren’t done…still have 11.5 weeks left of this pregnancy…let the good times roll! Its all fun…I love being pregnant and TOTALLY not rushing her out anytime soon!
