We usually are away for Daddy’s birthday…either at the river or at the beach or out doing SOMETHING since its in the summer time. But this year we realized that we had nothing planned on Daddy’s birthday…and it was on a Thursday. So we gathered with a few of our friends (last minute planning at its finest!).
Yes we had a little mid week pool party/bbq! Nothing over the top or super exciting BUT it was a good time.
We woke up before daddy and got him his favorite breakfast…a tall coffee with cream and butter croissant from Starbucks. Since Daddy has the bad habit of buying things whenever he wants, its hard to figure out something to get him for his birthday that he really wants and doesn’t have already. Owen recommended we get him a starbucks giftcard since he goes there every morning BUT I thought it would be a good year to get him a good coffee maker so he can make coffee at home every morning. Ella was so excited she actually TOLD him what his present was a few days before…it was super funny! “Daddy we got you a coffee maker!” haha She was so proud of herself telling him!
He acted surprised and SOOO loved his new Keurig. I don’t drink coffee so I’m horrible at picking flavors and coffee stuff but Daddy said I did a good job!
I also got my hubs something he has been asking me for for about 7 years. If you know him you know he LOVES pregnant ladies. He’s the guy that will ask to touch your baby bump, regardless of how well he knows you. And IF he’s really comfortable with you, you’ll get a “real good” bump rub aka total groping sesh! haha. So I went and had a boudoir photo shoot done while 30 weeks pregnant. And those pictures won’t be on this blog…((see SOME things in my life are left private! haha)) but it was a once in a lifetime thing and I’m so happy my long time buddy Jessica Turner at House of Maverick Photography was able to fit me in. Can’t wait to see the final product!
Yosh LOVED the gifts…happy that I kept MY present a huge surprise which was VERY hard to do. I don’t keep much from him…so scheduling the shoot, paying for the shoot, getting OUT of the house with lingerie for the shoot was all VERY difficult BUT I pulled it off! Go me!
So we celebrated Daddy with friends…it was a fun afternoon/evening.
Yosh still doesn’t eat sugar so Owen picked him out a minion cake for everyone else to enjoy!
As I watched our backyard transform into a typical pool party I couldn’t help but think about the pool parties we used to have at my parents house when I was a kid. They weren’t very often but my father would invite his cop buddies over and it was always the best time ever! I hope all our kids remember these kind of nights and love them like I did!!
And just like when I was a kid we would swim into the night hours, eating WAY too much sugar, staying up way past our bedtime having so much fun! I loved that we let our kids experience the same thing!
Happy 38th Birthday Daddy!! You are officially TOTALLY in your late-30’s. We need to start planning the big party for your 40th!!! Holy Cow thats old!! haha winkwink! We love you!
