We are getting old…like seriously…old! haha The days of partying into the wee hours of the morning are GONE! I know married people with kids that actually still party…so maybe its not our age it’s the fact that we are just boring in our old age! haha
I remember being a kid…and my parents having drinks and a good time for New Years. I remember back when we had cool neighbors and my parents would have them all over…and at midnight all the men would run out the back door and come in the front door to “bring in the good luck” of the year (an Irish thing). I remember the first year Paul was allowed to go with the men on the “run”…haha. All such good memories!
In the 10 years I have been with Yosh we have always had such a great time on New Years…with or without kids!
2002-2003….NYE at Joel’s…in his Riverside house. It was the first time Yosh brought me around his friends…and we had been dating for 1.5 months!
This is the very first picture Yosh and I took together…and sorry for the bad quality…its actually a picture of a picture b/c I was too lazy to scan the original! haha
2003-2004….Drawing a blank from this year….anyone know what we did or where I was?? After writing this blog…my friend Heather reminded me…it was the sports themed party at Travis and Lindsey’s house off Green River!!! I searched my photo albums to find the pictures…and sure enough…I got them. Scanned these pictures in…(oh the days before digital)
2004-2005…NYE at Joel’s house in Corona. Was the night that Deanna passed out due to some Everclear, Leann and Eric got together (they are now getting hitched in 2013), and was a few days after Yosh and I got engaged…
2005-2006…the year we thought it was a GREAT idea to get a cabin in Big Bear for the night. The evening was filled with board games, snacks, couple arguments! haha.
2006-2007…party at Joel & Deanna’s house…the marriages had begun…Party theme was “fancy with flair”…haha Jessica was prego with Addison (the first of all the babies!), we had the wheel of festivities that kept the party going…and some chairs were even broken that night!
2007-2008…we were in Ireland that year for my cousin, Alan’s wedding. This was the night that I lost 80% of the pictures from my camera just minutes after midnight hit. Yeah…I cried! It was horrible!!
2008-2009…Partying around the World…Souza’s hosted the party where we celebrated almost every hour by doing a shot from that country and getting a little prize or doing a little activity for doing it. There were tons of kids in our group by this time…and I was 5 months pregnant with Owen at the time…it was a LONG day and night…but it was one of the pretty fun evenings!!
2009-2010…was a" “down” year for New Years! We went to The Rowe’s house until about 8-9pm…came home and relaxed in our pajamas since I wasn’t exactly in “party shape”…I was a little over halfway done with my chemotherapy treatments…Owen was almost 9 months old…and boy our life had changed oh so much!
2010-2011…another fairly mellow year…we had a few people over our house for some fun with the kinect…kids playing…nothing too exciting. Soo…life really starting going “down party hill” once the Souza’s had a baby! hahaha
2011-2012…Another year in Ireland. And oddly enough it was a very quiet night. We stayed in…had a few drinks at my cousins house, ate tons of junk food, watched TV and just enjoyed our time together…aka our boring lives continue! hahaha j/k
2012-2013…Family friendly party at the Rowe’s…celebrated New York time…that way we could all be in bed by midnight. Haha The kids ran around like crazy having SO much fun…the adults were playing flipcup and drinking EverClear (lunatics!) and some of us girls sat around, ate, chatted and did our usual!! haha Oh I know we are totally party animals! lol.
So New Years for the Souza’s has changed over time…we’ve evolved into being THOSE lame old parents! haha Maybe ONE day we’ll all put our party pants back on and have a crazy kegger like we did in the old days!! But either way I love the friends we have..they are the family that God didn’t give us and we’re blessed to have such awesome people in our lives!! I saw all over facebook how many of my friends had HORRIBLE years and2012 was rough for a lot of people…many friends of mine lost family members…and I feel for them!
But I have to say, luckily 2012 was an AMAZING year for us! So many accomplishments, we remained healthy…it was good all around for my family! I’m praying that we all continue the good parts into 2013, especially for those friends that need the healing, positivity and some ol’ fashioned GOOD LUCK headed their direction!!
Our world is changing as we anxiously await the arrival of Baby Girl in a few weeks, but at the same time I know this year will be trying for us as well…it will be the year of change and transition (baby #2 and my parents moving away) both HUGE adjustments for this coming year! But Cheers to all and Happy New Year Everyone!! xoxo
