I seriously think I have the toughest little dude ever…no really!
Today was the big day…root canal time (if you remember Owen took a tumble down the stairs back in March…which resulted in 3 stitches to his chin and an almost knocked out tooth, which is dead now and needs “dealing with”).
So we were at the pediatric dentist…Owen was playing away in the waiting room…absolutely LOVING the huge dinosaur and animal toys…
He was enjoying himself while I was about to puke with nerves…I was so so so nervous for him. Gosh I felt like a HORRIBLE parent…KNOWING what he was in for…my goodness. (Well kinda knowing…never personally had a root canal BUT Daddy has and he said it was horrible!)
They called Owen’s name and he went on back…like a told big kid. I wasn’t as anxious this time about him being back there by himself since he did great last week for the cleaning. So away he went…and I started texting to keep my brain occupied!
“Owen’s Mom” ….my heart sank…I thought something was wrong. I thought the nitrous was a bust and we were gonna have to fork out the $560 for the sedation…BUT they actually wanted to bring me back so I could take a peek and see just how well he was doing…(of course I snapped a quick pic too!) 
That’s Dr. Saunders and I missed her name (she is so nice…Owen loves her…and I found out today that her daughter is Yosh’s TA at school…hmm..small world!)
Little man hooked up to the nitrous…and doing great.
I just put my camera over the docs shoulder…didn’t want Owen to see me and freak out…he was doing great and I didn’t want to risk anything! But I could hear him chattin’ away about Rex and Slinky Dog from Toy Story, never shutting up. I have no clue how the dentist was even able to get the work done. Actually while I was back out in the waiting room I could hear his drunk butt talking SO loud about Spud, Nana’s dog…it was hilarious. He’s like Mommy and Daddy…gets louder while intoxicated!
He was in and out in 40 minutes or less….he did AWESOME. I guess he even giggled with they started doing the drilling…crazy huh?!? The nitrous wears off immediately…but the dentist wanted to stress that we watch him like a hawk to make sure he didn’t bite or scratch his numb lip. My child is perfect though of course (haha) and didn’t mess with it at all!! So after this pic the gaze came out!
We have to go back on May 22nd to finish the root canal…and for now he has a temporary filling (which doesn’t look so pretty)…
But that will be filled with a nice white filling at the next appt…and he’ll be set…
I can’t express how impressed I am with him. He is so tough…which is surprising to many that know him because he is kinda of a wussy child, but when it comes to anything big he is super tough. I just LUB LUB LUB him…and he’s such a lil inspiration to me!!!
