Another weekend to keep us Souza’s busy…and busy we sure were! On Friday Sept. 2nd we celebrated our dear friend Lindsey Harp (and her twin’s) 30th birthday…yet another memorable day in my brain…again 2 years changes so much. BUT the party was themed…but I’ll post all about that later when I have time (and the pictures from Lindsey!)
On Saturday, Bernie, myself and Owen ventured to Little Corona Del Mar since Mom has never been there so I thought it would be fun and a change of scenery from our usual spot at Newport. We were there last week for family pictures and I didn’t understand why I didn’t go to that beach more often…the tide pools, little private beach…its all totally cute. (And it was the beautiful location of Erika & Chuck’s surprise wedding 2.5 years ago) <------
Our morning started off amazing…we were driving around EVERYWHERE looking for somewhere to eat (which was NOT amazing because I don’t think rich beach people eat real food…we couldn’t find a McDonald’s to save our lives! haha) So we settled for Coco’s. Which ended up being cool…as we parked outside of Coco’s I saw a handsome guy finishing up his jog right by our car…I looked at him as I walked around the car to get Owen out and asked the man “Were you on the Bachelorette?” Now right there I shocked myself…I NEVER EVER speak to people I think might be famous…I get the WORST case of star-struckness…but I asked. And he answered “Yeah I sure was…very nice to
meet you”. At this point I’m not even looking at him, totally nervous, I tell him “Nice to meet you too” and he continues to walk away…I got so nervous when he actually answered me back. It was Ryan from Ashley’s season of Bachelorette…teeheehee…and I’ll have to say he’s a handsome dude in real life! ;) Mom asked who that was…and I was like “MOTHER you don’t know who that is….geez…its RYAN from Bachelorette” haha and she got all excited and asked if I wanted to get a picture with him and I quickly replied “NOOOOOOO” But Mom thought he was an old high school friend…I guess he was staring at our car as we pulled up so Mom thought we knew each other or something. She later confessed that she thought he was just checkin’ her out! LMAO
Moving on…got to the beach and was disappointed to realize that the tide-pools weren’t there b/c it was high tide AND since we’ve had HUGE waves the past few days there was TONS of yucky, fly infested seaweed on the tiny beach. BUT of course we made due and had a good time.
From the beach I came home, dropped little dude off w/ Daddy and headed to the Angel Game with Erika. She is moving to Warden, WA next month…so I’m taking every opportunity I can to spend time w/ her before she leaves (this seriously makes me sad!)
Great seats…and did I mention the Ne-Yo concert was after the game…Good Times..Thank you Erika!
Ne-Yo actually kinda sucked in concert (I was hoping PitBull was going to run out and sing with him…but he didn’t)…the Dierks Bentley country concert was MUCH better…now was that because we were sober for Ne-Yo and drunk for Dierks…I guess we’ll never know!
Sunday Daddy spent the whole day with his buddies for a Man’s Day/Fantasy Football Draft Party. It amazes me how that kind of thing would seriously last 4 hours…and all the guys LOVE IT. But Owen and I kept ourselves busy busy. We went to Abby White’s slip-n-slide party…which was cute…the kids got “fish visors” to bring him…Owen and Addi loved theirs…for 2 minutes!
From Abby’s party, Taryn, Addi, Owen and I headed to Knotts Berry Farm. We got season passes for X-mas and have not been great at actually using them. But we brought the kids for a few hours in the evening, after it cooled off a bit. It was fun…they enjoyed themselves.
Then on Monday we spent most of the day lounging around…Zumba in the morning, which ALWAYS feels good But we hung out, caught up on TV and went to our friends house for dinner…friends which we don’t see often but funny enough we spent LAST Labor Day with as well..The Wade’s.
Owen & Sydney last year…
And the two little friends this year…
I texted Taryn to let Addi know she's gonna have a run for her money with Sydney around…heehee
He’s such a little stud muffin!
Such a nice 3 day weekend…we sooo needed that extra day off! And lucky me…I didn’t have to return to work today either since I had to report for Jury Duty. Joy! And what a day…not even excused from my civic duties until the attorney’s read over all our questionnaires on our feelings regarding capital punishment and potential gang-members…hope I DON’T get placed on this trial!
Happy Labor Day!
That sounds like a really perfect weekend! Love that you did so many grand things. I am always thankful when I have an extra day to relax.
