All things Easter…all in one weekend!!!
This school year our spring break was the week AFTER Easter…BUT Easter was at the end of March. And I found out a few things….
a) I HATE early Easters!
b) I hate working until the Friday before Easter (gives very little time for the Easter Bunny to prepare)
c) I love having the day after Easter off work
d) I need to learn to manage my time a little bit better!
So when we finished work on Good Friday I had that “oh shit moment” that the kids baskets were no where near finished. Yes I had started them by ordering matching bathing suits from old navy online BUT that was kinda the extent of the shopping.
But the Saturday before Easter a local church, Vantage Point, hosted their Annual Easter Egg hunt at our high school. It was awesome. Kids got to do an Easter Egg “hunt”, see the Easter Bunny, get candy, make a craft, jump on bouncers and BAM done!
I don’t have any pictures from Owen’s egg “hunt” because Daddy went with him and he only took video. I say “hunt” because it wasn’t like they were hunting for hidden eggs…it more of a free for all. They throw out foam eggs in a gated off area and the kids get as many as they can. Once they are all gone they give the foam eggs back to the workers and in exchange they get tickets for the CandyLand booth to pick out the candy they want. It works out well. But Vantage Point puts on SUCH an amazing FREE event. Yes everything is free!! Its all done so well and that church really knows how to love our community!
No tears with the Easter Bunny this year which is pretty nice!! Ella screamed the past 2 years and no tears today. But she wasn’t sad to be done with being next to the bunny either. She was a little creeped out but did great!
Ella and Addi were matching buddies!! Yay CottonOn Kids.
Ella’s favorite part is the candy and bouncers.
Owens favorite part is the craft tables!
Such different little souls.
After the Easter event we came home and dyed eggs. Yep…we waited until last minute to do everything pretty much!!
And half way through the egg dying Maggie decided she was over it…
And while patient Daddy was doing eggs with the kids I was also prepping for the Easter dinner the next day. We were hosting this year…and it was going to be my parents and Yosh’s sister. Unfortunately Yosh’s parents weren’t feeling up to coming out from Redlands. Sadly any traveling is hard on my father-in-law these days.
The night before Easter Yosh and I got to go on a date with some friends…Nana had to make sure the kids left out carrots and a note for the Easter Bunny…was cute getting this text before they went to bed…
The water bowl for the bunny was Ella’s idea…haha so clever!
The Easter Bunny was very good to the kids this year…they seemed happy enough.
It was a pretty easy day! Most of my food was prepped and just needed heating the day off. The kids wanted to swim with their cousins so they came over a bit early, we heated the pool and it felt like a summer day! Only in California!!
Awesome that Maggie is already a little water baby…she LOVES bath, LOVES the spa, LOVES the heated pool…we’re on to a good thing here!
My parents came over and we headed inside for dinner…but of course the Easter Bunny stopped at their house for the kids too…what do you know!?!? (more sh*t, just want they need!)
My dad doesn’t ask to hold my kids often…so when he asked Nana to hold her you better believe I grabbed my camera to get some pics…before he noticed and got irritated with me.
Yes thats him doing kissy face at her…Liam doing kissy face…the best.
Dinner was ham, twice baked potatoes, green salad and corn, followed by some mini apple blossoms and vanilla ice cream. We used Easter themed paper plates because I just didn’t have it in me to pull out the china…kinda embarrassing BUT hey…could be worse right?!? lol
It was a good day but we really missed Papa, Mya and Uncle Mike.
I promise I won’t match them forever BUUUUUT someone got them these matching dresses (Thanks Amanda) and I just LOOOOVE doing some matchy matchy! Its so freaking cute!!
And it wouldn’t be Easter without the annual Owen/Daddy shoulder picture…which I JUST realized, its the wrong shoulder! DAMNIT.
…and it all started because on Owen’s very first Easter Yosh thought it would be a good idea to take a picture with our NEWBORN (8days old) on his shoulder. My mother and myself about died…I remember holding my breath.
I love time with family…whether for holidays or not. I wish we did it more often.
Hoppy Easter…until Next year. Guess I can now take down my Easter decorations huh?!?
…so lazy. Putting away sucks!
