Of course this pregnancy was so much different than my other two, so I had a feeling that we’d actually make it to my scheduled csection (as opposed to going into labor on my own prior to my scheduled surgery date)…and yes we made it.
Its nice waking up (well getting out of bed…not much sleeping happened the night before), showering, taking our time to get to the hospital. We dropped the kids off at daycare and with Nana for school drop off. Both kids new that they’d be coming to the hospital after school and nap to see the new baby. My only issue with scheduled csec is the idea of not being allowed to drink…I’m EXTREMEY thirsty in the mornings…so it was tough.
Check-in went fairly smooth. And we were on our way into surgery.
They started the cutting before Yosh was even in the room. The operation took a little under 2 hours. Getting into the baby, getting the baby out, doing my tubal, then closing me up seemed to take so much longer than I expected!
But at 11:38am our little girl was born. The doctor was really cool and let Yosh watch her being delivered and then announce to the room whether it was a Boy or Girl.
And Yosh got some really cool pics and video too…little too graphic for my liking on the family blog but pretty cool to have.
Weighing 8lbs 3oz. 20inches long. Another little chunky girl!!
It was such an amazing experience getting to do the skin to skin bonding right away. I never got that with my other two kids.
Recovery was nice. We got to hold our girl and decide on her name.
It was either Clara, Nora or Maggie. But when we both first saw her in the OR we both kinda knew that Maggie was it. I feel like she looks so much like Ella though I keep calling her Ella so the name thing is hard to get used to! haha Maybe we should have just stuck with Baby Bob! haha
Shes so much like Ella BUT her hair is SO dark! My other two weren’t born with dark hair like her. Its beautiful.
So of course as we stared at our new little girl we were thinking back to when we had our other two. I was excited to get home from the hospital and start looking at pictures from back then…comparing. Each baby, delivery, hospital stay, recovery has been so different. They each have their own story and I love that.
Our hospital stay was very pleasant. Loved having all our family and friend visitor come to meet the newest little Souza. The best part was when the kids were introduced for the first time. It was just us five in the room…and Ella was VERY VERY unsure about the whole thing. Ella wanted to be with me, but not have Maggie near her, not even Maggie’s blanket could be touching her. For Owen, it was love at first sight. He too was the must caring cute little dude…he wanted to sit with me, care for me…get my water, he brought me flowers, he was concerned if I was in pain. He’s gonna make a great husband one day!! So caring!
And it was so fun to see all the family fall in love with our little lady as well~
So…Baby Bob is here..and we are slowly adjusting to being a FiveFamily. I’ve been home for one day..we’ll see how happy chipper I am in a week. ;)
