As teachers we all know that we try and schedule as many appointments during our off time. I kinda feel guilty when I have to make doctor or dental appointments when we have work BUT unfortunately I have so many random checks with random doctors I can’t possibly NOT miss work! BUT I get Owen in…so in a span of one week Owen had his bi-annual dental cleaning AND his 4 year check-up!!
Thank GOD my child has not inherited ANY of my dental fears…he loves it.
I absolutely love being able to send my little man off with the hygienist…alone and sit in the waiting room to hear him busting up laughing! He chats their ear off…makes jokes…asks questions and just loves being at the dentist! Yay Owen.
A few days later Owen had his 4 year check-up…yeah he turned four like 3 months ago (don’t judge me!)…BUT Kaiser wouldn’t let me schedule any earlier because LAST years check-up was in July as well. Annoying right.
But this year was a fun one…they checked his vision and hearing…like a real grown-up check! I was nervous for him…not sure why but it was the first time he was being evaluated on his performance and a bit weird. His hearing was perfect and his vision was better in his left eye than his right but both still good.
His pediatrician came in and checked him out…everything looking GREAT! We chatted about his anxiety/hearing sensitivity and she is referring him for a consult with the pediatric occupational therapy department. He could have some auditory/sensory issues. So we’ll find out about that at the end of August.
Owens Stats at 4 years and 3 months:
Weight: 37lbs putting him in the 59th percentile
Height: 40.25 inches putting him in the 33rd percentile
I felt a little guilty/sad for him…he was all excited and in a good mood…having NO IDEA he was going to have to have shots.
This was once the doctor told him he needed to get some vaccines…my poor dude.
He did great…(ACTUALLY not really he screamed his head off…and I’m thankful that kaiser does it a bit different he doesn’t need anymore until he’s 11years old, none next year for kindergarten…which is great because there would be NO way I’d be strong enough to hold him down in another year!) But after it was all said and done I brought him to his favorite place (Petsmart)…and things were all better.
Thankful for my healthy little man.
